In 2020, Rittenhouse became a household name when he was only 17 years old. That’s when he drove from his home in Illinois to a Black Lives Matter protest in Wisconsin, we previously told you. The pro-gun teen brought along a medical kit and a semiautomatic rifle, which he would use to shoot at least three people– leaving two dead.
Despite video evidence and eye-witness accounts insisting Rittenhouse’s attack was premeditated, he was acquitted of all charges. In court, his lawyers argued self defense. He’s since become of a darling for pro-gun conservatives and advocates of the Second Amendment. He has close ties to President Donald Trump and late podcaster Charlie Kirk.
