It seems Kayla Nicole isn’t letting her ex Travis Kelce’s fairytale engagement steal her joy. When he and Taylor Swift made their announcement, social media erupted with excitement—and a wave of concern for Kayla. Rather than engaging with the internet chatter, she shared one cryptic message seemingly hinting that she’s focused on herself.

Meanwhile, fans across social media have rallied behind her—and it’s easy to see why.
The media personality took to Instagram Wednesday to share a post featuring an interview with superstar actress Tracee Ellis Ross, known for embracing her fabulous single-woman lifestyle. In the clip, originally from Off the Cuff, Ross explains that happiness is “something you can get at 7-Eleven,” while joy is “something that you earn and work for.”

Kayla’s post seemed to suggest that she’s choosing the latter, focusing on protecting her peace amid the public spotlight. That said, fans didn’t take the announcement lightly either.
Kelce and Kayla were in a very public, on-and-off relationship for nearly five years, from 2017 until they finally parted ways in 2022. Some are pointing out that Travis “wasted” five years of her life, only for him to propose to Taylor in two years — less than half that time. While a few fans teased Kelce and Taylor gifs in her comment section and dragged her for “divesting” unsuccessfully, so many others sympathized with Kayla and wished her the best.
“I hope u doing okay friend,” one fan wrote, while another urged, “turn off your comments sister girl.”
“This is extremely corny and loser behavior to call Kayla Nicole a divestor when she isn’t, all because Taylor Swift is engaged to Travis Kelce. Black men need to stop disrespecting Black women bro and I’m so serious,” another fan defended.
On the other hand, a few fans are wondering why folks are surprised that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end chose to get engaged to a “billionaire.” His past relationship with Kayla aside, why wouldn’t he?
One fan was fed up with the banter altogether, saying she doesn’t understand why Kayla should be hurt at all. “Some stuff just doesn’t work out and that’s ok!” she penned in her post.
Fans may debate the timing, the breakup, or the fairy-tale engagement, but Nicole seems firmly rooted in her own joy, proving that moving forward doesn’t have to come with a public meltdown.
