Black Folks Believe Stephen A. Smith Finally Went Too Far With His Latest Comments About Trump

After saying he regrets voting for Kamala Harris, Stephen A. Smith is back defending Donald Trump, and Black Twitter is not happy.

If it’s one person the Black community can count on to stir up a bit of trouble, it’s definitely sports commentator Stephen A. Smith! In the past few years alone, Smith has become a polarizing figure in the sports world and the political world. Now, he’s back with another questionable analysis of President Donald Trump, and folks online are dragging him because of it.

Smith took to his podcast to cut Trump some slack in regards to the ongoing war in Ukraine. “We ain’t gon’ act like he caused this now,” he began of Trump. “It was Russia that invaded Crimea [in 2014], and that was under the Obama administration.” Smith went on name former President Joe Biden and President Bill Clinton as the real villains in the ongoing war, giving grace to Trump.

To be expected, many Black folks saw Smith’s approval of Trump as a betrayal, and they’re letting him have it online. “Fk Stephen A. Another Trump dk sucker,” @Reds56Art responded on X.

Another user, @iloanya1, called Smith “an ass kissing idiot….Can he please tell us what Trump has actually done for peace…..”

Smith continued on his podcast saying, “promises made are supposed to be promises kept,” and according to the sports commentator, President Trump is making good on his promise to Ukraine. We previously reported that Trump said part of his motivations for brokering peace between Russia and Ukraine is making it to heaven. To his credit, the president has met with both countries’ leaders, but experts say the warring nations have a long way to go before any peace deal can be officially made.

The podcast clip has since become a MAGA sound-bite and even brought Smith on Fox News to clarify some of his statements. “Obviously, under Republican leadership, they also took over Georgia [under former President George W. Bush], so we’re not pointing all the fingers at Democratic party,” he said. “Trump has had a few occasions where he deserves criticism, but on this particular situation, he’s done more than we’ve seen any Democrat in office try to do when it comes to Russia.”

Some folks on X like @Aikoges agreed with Smith, but others had more colorful things to say about him. “Stephen A is the barometer for whether or not something is bad,” @TYTarantino tweeted. “If he supports it, it’s terrible. His stamp should be used as such.”

This isn’t the first time Smith has come to the president’s defense, however. In January, he caught flak after saying he regrets voting for former Vice President Kamala Harris instead of Trump. Critics saw Smith’s comments– on top of his repeated criticisms of the Democratic party– as being way off… but clearly, Smith doesn’t care what people think about him. Still, this time around, Black folks let him have it.

“He fell for the bulls**t,” @ClutchRodgersss said. Another user said Smith shouldn’t be a spokesperson for how most Black people feel. “N***a with a hairline like this could never speak on behalf of Black America, fuck out my face,” @swervymenace tweeted.
