Director Ava DuVernay is making our Friday with the Rebel-a-thon event on Twitter, hosted by her organization AFFRM, which is described as a collection of “like-minded black film nerds” who “distribute the work of black independent filmmakers as [it] cultivates audiences for their films.”

The Twitter-thon is a wide-ranging discussion about black film, and several of your favorite black indie filmakers are taking questions. DuVernay, Pete Chatmon, Ryan Coogler, Julie Dash and others are taking over the @AFFRM timeline, and they are currently dropping gems:
