A Jane Doe sued Black country music singer Jimmie Allen for sexual assault in June 2023. Now, there’s a shocking update in the case, and it has nothing to do with evidence.

A woman identified as Jane Doe claims she met Allen in May 2022 on a flight to Nashville. After they reportedly began to communicate daily, Jane Doe said she believed he had separated from Alexis “Lexi” Allen, his then-wife, so they met up in a Las Vegas hotel two months later. The woman claims their sexual encounter was consensual, but his alleged filming of it was not.
She also accused the “Best Shot” singer of persistent sexual contact after she allegedly told him to stop repeatedly. Per local news outlet WOKQ, Jane Doe alleged that after Allen fell asleep, she discovered a recording of their romp on his phone before taking it to police.
Allen, 40, has maintained his innocence since day one and subsequently filed a countersuit against his accuser in July 2023. His suit claimed Jane Doe consented to the recording and that she had stolen his phone, but a judge later dismissed it. Now, a Tennessee judge has ruled against Allen, and the ruling wasn’t based on evidence.
On Monday (Aug. 18), a “default judgment” was entered against Allen, meaning it wasn’t based on the merits of the case’s evidence but instead a penalty for Allen’s habitual failures to comply with legal orders. The judge noted that Allen and his legal team continued to miss deadlines and didn’t comply with court orders, therefore, a judgement was ordered against him and his right to defend himself against Jane Doe’s claims has been officially forfeited. He’s been found liable for assault, battery, invasion of privacy, and infliction of emotional distress.
Thanks to the default judgement, which Allen’s lawyers called “purely procedural” because of “prior counsel’s repeated failures,” Jane Doe’s lawyers can even now ask for financial damages. Per PEOPLE, his legal team is planning to take “immediate action” to have the judgment set aside and have the case decided on its merits instead.
Allen also made headlines when he announced he fathered twins outside of his marriage in 2023. Allen and his then-wife Alexis’ third child was born months after filing for divorce, and he publicly confessed the birth of his extramartial children months later on Instagram where he shared he is the proud father of now six kids.
He publicly apologized to his wife for “humiliating her with my affair.” I’m embarrassed that my choices have brought shame on her,” Allen said. “That’s something that she did not deserve at all.”
