Billy Porter is adding yet another talent to his assortment of gifts—directing television! The newly-crowned Emmy winner has revealed he’ll be directing an episode for Pose’s already-anticipated third season.

“I’ve been directing for 20 years in the theater, and I’m directing an episode of Season 3 myself,” Billy told Variety in his first solo interview following his historic Emmy win. “I’m trying to be the head bitch in charge, hunny!”

Variety adds:

The critically-acclaimed show, which was honored with a Peabody award, is centered in New York City’s underground ballroom scene in the late ’80s and early ’90s, shining a light on the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The series features the largest cast ever in television history of transgender actors in series regular roles ever, as well as the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a scripted series.

Porter joins a diverse roster of directors on “Pose,” including Janet Mock — who serves as a writer, director and producer on the series, and recently signed a groundbreaking overall deal at Netflix, which made her the first out transgender woman to have a sweeping creative deal at a major content company.

On Sunday night, Porter became the first openly black gay man to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He was also the first openly black gay man to be nominated in that category. Porter brought his award-winning talents to the portrayal of Pray Tell in the popular FX show.

Along with acting onscreen (Pose, American Horror Story) and onstage (Kinky Boots), Porter has a producer credit for 2016 TV mini-series Mess and a composer credit for the 2006 documentary Fabulous! The Story of Queer Cinema, according to his IMDb page. A man of many talents, indeed!

While we don’t yet have a premiere date for Pose’s third season (just a delightful confirmation that it was renewed!), we’ll mark our imaginary calendars for that Billy Porter-helmed episode!
