Not to be an alarmist or anything, but quick question: are we living through the last days? When older folks in the Black church talk about wars and rumors of wars as a sign that the end was coming, many thought they were crazy.

But are they on to something? Because itโs feeling real end of days-ish.
This weekend Trump directed American warplanes and submarines to bomb three nuclear sites in Iran, joining Israelโs attack on the country. Anytime an armed conflict breaks out and Israel is involved, some Christians start talking about the end of the worldโฆand it makes sense why.
When Israel was re-established as nation in 1948, many Christians saw that as the fulfillment of Ezekiel chapter 37, a passage that speaks of the resurrection of dry bones and the regathering of the Jewish people to the land God promised them. In the following chapters, there is a prophecy that a war that will happen to Israel from a coalition of nations led by a northern aggressorโฆthen Iran enters the picture.
Persia (modern-day Iran) is named in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 as an ally of the northern aggressor. So that is why some Christians look at what is happening between these two countries and immediately think we are witnessing the end of the world.
But maybe all this religious talk isnโt your thing. Perhaps you look at the above and see nothing more than religious people being superstitious. You should be worried about this too.
The conflict in the Fertile Crescent is all about nuclear weapons. Israel and the United Stated have them and do not want Iran to. This is a battle of two nuclear powers fighting to keep a country from becoming one. But this gets dicey mad quick.
Letโs call a spade a spade: Black folks believe they canโt trust President Trump further than we can throw him, and Israel is currently doing things in Gaza that many believe are war crimes if we are being generous and genocide if we are not.
But to be fair, do we really trust Iran to be the stewards of peace in the world? But what they have just done in Iran could motivate that country to develop nuclear weapons faster because they now feel they need them to protect themselves. The reason anyone would want such a weapon is not really to use them, but to have the capacity to use them; thereby, scaring away anyone who would dare to attack them unprovoked.
All this talk about nuclear weapons (who deserves to have them and who does not) only serves to prove a point: any nation having one is bad for everyone. We should not trust our leaders nor those of Israel to have access to those kinds of weapons. And the fact that they may motivate Iran to acquire them faster is terrifying.
If Iran develops them because they feel threatened by the Israel and U.S. coalition, they may shoot them once they are ready in retaliation. If that happens, it is game over for everyone.
But who would put it past Trump to do something stupid because he had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day? Who says we can trust Israel to not go too far and push the button? Neither country can truly be trusted.
Whether it be for religious reasons or because of the presence of nuclear weapons, the question of is this the end times is one we should be asking. You better get prayed up. If thatโs not your thing, burn sage.
