This time it’s 54-year-old Jan Morgan, an Arkansas gun range owner, who announced that she would be running for governor of the state in a video posted to YouTube.
Morgan came to dubious fame in 2014 when she said that her Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range in Hot Springs, Ark., would be a “Muslim-free zone.”
“I refuse to train the next islamic [sic] terrorist,” Morgan wrote on her site. She said that her business actually picked up after making the discriminatory statement.
The Kansas City Star reports that the Department of Justice was monitoring the range in 2015 for potential constitutional violations. And that in early 2015, a father-son duo who visited Morgan’s range was turned away by a woman who told them, “I would hope if you were Muslim, you guys wouldn’t be cowards and would be up front about it.”
They were Hindus.
In her campaign announcement video, Morgan proudly proclaims that she is a gun nut Second Amendment enthusiast, racist Tea Party supporter, blind law enforcement advocate and a “real” Republican.
She plans to challenge Gov. Asa Hutchinson in the Republican primary this year.
