Angela Davis’ life is getting the biopic treatment, according to Deadline. The Firm production company will produce the authorized biography, and Shameless writer LaToya Morgan will write the script. Morgan most recently received an NAACP Image Award nomination for AMC’s Turn: Washington’s Spies.

The Davis biopic, which will be produced by Robbie Brenner, will focus on the allegations that Davis was part of a conspiracy to murder a federal judge in the ’70s.
“Although the events of this film take place three decades ago, Angela Davis’ story holds a strong relevance in today’s political and social landscape, and we are excited and honored to tell it along with LaToya.” said Brenner.
