It’s time we have a serious conversation about the current state of the White House. Under President Donald Trump, one of the most polarizing leaders in modern history, the country has seen a shift like no other. In fact, if you were an outsider looking into America, you’d probably question what the hell is happening over here and who is allowing it to go down!

We don’t like to throw around the term “ghetto,” especially because it’s been used to alienate Black communities for generations… But what other word could possibly describe this current administration? From nation-wide protests to Trump using the law to attack his enemies for personal gain, here are some of the many times the president pulled questionable moves no one could have predicted.
Threatening to Extort New York City

Before Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani was elected to be the first Muslim mayor of New York City this past Tuesday (Nov. 4), the president endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for the position. In a campaign against Mamdani, Trump repeatedly threatened to withhold federal funding from the city if his preferred candidate was not elected. Newsweek reported that he has since walked back his threats… Probably because extortion is illegal in the United States.
SNAP Benefits

Over 40 million Americans went without food assistance benefits for the first time in American history this past Nov. 1. Several judges ordered the president to fund SNAP benefits despite the active government shutdown. The president fought back, refusing to hand out the funding. But after an appeals court denied the administration’s request to block SNAP funding, Trump is pleading with the Supreme Court to stop the court’s order, USA Today reported. Now, Americans and politicians are accusing Trump is stealing from the people… and what’s more ghetto than that?
Trump’s White House Demolition

The president’s decision to go ahead with yet another major renovation of the White House was met with ample pushback… especially because Trump’s plans to create a 999-capacity ballroom means the complete demolition of the East Wing. He called the construction, which began last week, “music to my ears.” Trump tearing up the White House has many nervous that even more significant changes to the 200-year-old White House are to come. “We’re going to build a room that’s going to be able to hold literally the inauguration if we want,” Trump said.
Trump Phone, Sneakers, Bible

During last year’s campaign season, Trump rolled out merch items including his own brand of sneakers, cologne and even Bibles. The moves were met with backlash from the Democratic National Committee, who trolled the president with their own rollout of campaign ads against him. But even when Trump got back into the White House, his merchandise antics never slowed down. We previously told you all about Trump Mobile, the phone company founded by Eric Trump designed for Americans. And who can forget the infamous “Trump card,” which he launched offering permanent residency to wealthy migrants for a whopping $5 million investment, we told you.
Beefing with Elon Musk

The country was left stunned this past summer after Trump’s online feud with his former ally Elon Musk hit the fan. Musk, who previously worked as the Director of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), broke away from the president’s cabinet after several disagreements. What followed was perhaps the most ghetto argument Americans have ever been forced to witness live, we previously told you. From personal jabs to the Musk’s bombshell revelation that Trump is allegedly in the Epstein files, no one could’ve expected the two peas in a pod to go out like this!
Cursing on National Television
We all know Trump doesn’t like to hold his tongue, but reporters were taken aback in June when he became frustrated over ongoing conflicts between Iran and Israel. The president promised to bring peace to the warring nations, but all efforts were virtually ignored after the peace agreement was violated by both sides. In response, Trump told reporters both Iranian and Israeli leaders “don’t know what the f*ck they’re doing.”
Sending in National Guard

Trump dropped National Guard troops in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and he’s working on bringing troops to Chicago, Memphis, Portland and San Francisco, which has drawn backlash. Typically, the process to send in the Guard would require approval from the state governor and city mayor. Trump, however, has been overstepping, we told you. In response, mayors, governors, Democrats and several judges have blocked Trump’s orders. The president was threatened with contempt of court over allegations he defied court orders this year, NBC News reported. However, this hasn’t slowed him down much.
Sparking No Kings Protests

What started as a way to shift attention from Trump’s birthday celebration/ Military parade back in June has now turned into a national movement. Millions of Americans gathered to protest Trump and his administration in a series of “No Kings Day” demonstrations around the country. Sure, the right to protest is an integral part of America, but it says a lot when Americans organize en masse to protest their own leader. Whew, chile. The ghetto!
Prosecuting Political Enemies

The president has made it his mission to target judges, politicians, government officials and all other folks who even think about pushing back on him, the New York Times reported. On his long list, former Vice President Kamala Harris, N.Y. Attorney General Letitia James, former President Barack Obama and Federal Reserve Gov. Lisa Cook have all been targeted by the administration and the Department of Justice, we told you.
Beefing with State Governors

Trump has a tendency to rub state governors the wrong way, and many of them aren’t backing down either. Folks like Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom and Ill. Gov. JB Pritzker have been trolling Trump and doing everything they can to undermine the president’s unconstitutional efforts. Newsom has all but mastered trolling the president online. On X, Newsom’s press office used all caps, MAGA phrases, threats and personal praise– reminiscent of Trump’s social media playbook– to get under his skin, we told you.
Allies Bailing on Trump

You know it’s getting real when even your fiercest allies are slowing starting to turn. In just a few months, many Trump loyalists have been outwardly criticizing and condemning him. We told you all about conservative Candace Owens’ descent from Trump following the assassination of Charlie Kirk. But others like podcaster Joe Rogan and Ga. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene continue to defy the president.
Commuting Jan. 6 Rioters’ Sentences

Nothing screams “ghetto” like releasing hundreds of criminals back into the streets just because they support you. Among a series of executive orders signed by the president on his first day, Trump most notably either pardoned, commuted the prison sentences, or vowed to dismiss the cases of all roughly 1,500 people charged with crimes connected to the infamous Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, according to the White House.
Nominating Unqualified Allies to Office

Trump has been tapping some questionable figures to runs the most important offices in the country. From Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s shaky personal life to Secretary of Education Linda McMahon’s former role at WWE, clearly, there’s some discrepancies about what makes someone fit to lead. Most recently, the president was criticized after his nominee to head the Office of Special Counsel, Paul Ingrassia, was caught spew racism over texts, we told you.
Defying Judge Orders

Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has faced legal backlash from federal judges who claim his actions are illegal or unconstitutional. In several cases– like when a judge ordered him to turn around a plane full of alleged Venezuelan gang members– Trump took a sneaky route either claiming his hands were tied or just flat out ignoring the ruling. In the case of the ICE plane, the administration claimed since the flights were over international waters, the judges order did not apply, according to ABC News.
