If it’s one thing Homecoming at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) will do is bring out the stars! Since the early days of Homecoming season, celebrities have always found their way to HBCU campuses for great times and even better performances.
This year, Homecoming is set to be filled with some of the biggest events to date. So far, A football mashup between Florida A&M University and Jackson State University saw a record crowd turnout, so just be prepared to see all of your favs showing up and out representing for our black colleges! With Homecoming officially kicking off, let’s flash back to some of the iconic celebrity pop ups at HBCUs.
Rick Ross
The Boss showed up at Clark Atlanta University for a long overdue performance of some of his greatest hits.
Mariah The Scientist
The R&B singer hit the stage for Old Dominion University’s Homecoming concert.
B. Simone
“On Oct. 15, 2024, comedian, entrepreneur, and social media influencer B. Simone, also known as Braelyn Simone, captivated the audience at Johnson C. Smith University with an empowering message,” reports HBCU Buzz.
Bryson Tiller
In 2022, Bryson Tiller popped out at Howard’s Homecoming.
LeToya Luckett
The former Destiny’s Child member hit TSU’s Homecoming stage for an unexpected performance.
Sexyy Red
Apparently Sexyy Red showed up late to the Homecoming concert, and the crowd wasn’t too impressed.

In 2012, Mr. Hotline Bling himself took the stage at Howard Univeristy’s Homecoming alongside TI, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, and others.
Curtis Mayfield
In 1971, the legendary soul musician performed at Lincoln University’s Homecoming.

Rapper Glorilla performed at Alabama State University’s 2023 Homecoming concert.

The former NFL Quarterback was seen at North Carolina Central’s Homecoming football game against Howard in 2022.

Right before dropping her first and only album to date, Cardi B popped out at not one— but two— HBCU Homecomings in 2017.

Only at Howard University would you see Lori Harvey swag suffering with Terrence J and Mack Wilds.

The Atlanta rap icon knows he’s well-loved in his city. So far, he’s performed at two Atlanta HBCU homecomings over the years, Clark Atlanta University and SpelHouse.

In 2022, Snoop Dogg was spotted at Jackson State University’s Homecoming football game.
