And who could blame them? The storylines and the plot twists in this show are to die for (no pun intended) and we, as a melanated collective, couldn’t resist seeing what happens when rich white people have problems. And it’s because of this show’s captivating essence that made us wonder about the plethora of other “white shows” that keep us glued to our TV screens. You know, shows like “The Girlfriend” or “MobLand.”

Regardless of your opinion, these ‘white’ shows have us hooked and some kind of way, we find ourselves reflected in them. So, let’s explore even more white-led series that Black audiences can’t can’t get enough of!

“All Her Fault”

As we already told you, “All Her Fault” has got Black folks in a chokehold right now. It centers around a white couple that falls apart once their five-year-old only child goes missing, but trust us when we say there’s a WHOLE LOT MORE IN STORE in this show. Gird your loins, you’re in for a ride with this one.

“The Beast In Me”

If you’re a fan of Claire Danes, Matthew Rhys and a whodunnit that keeps you on the edge of your seat, then buckle up! “The Beast in Me” will keep you guessing until the very end and will also bring a few plot twists that you didn’t see coming.

“Murdaugh: Death in the Family”

It’ll take a quick Google search to figure out the murderous, messy story of the Murdaugh family in South Carolina. But if you needed a very good dramatization of what all went down, look no further than Hulu’s new series, “Murdaugh: Death in the Family.”

“Pluribus”

Imagine the most miserable person in the world. Now imagine that they’re the ones responsible for saving the world from happiness. Yes, you read that right. Rhea Seehorn, you’ve got a tall task but clearly folks are tuning in to see how you get it done!

“The Hunting Wives”

“The Hunting Wives” is a twisted drama series that pulls back the covers of small-town high society. It follows Sophie O’Neill, who moves to Texas for a quieter life, but she received an unexpected awakening when she connected with a clique of glamorous women with a dark side. What began as nights of partying quickly turned into an obsession, betrayal, and murder. If you need a good weekend binge, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

“Severance”

Black people love a show that can make their heads spin. “Severance” is a popular psychological sci-fi thriller about employees at Lumon Industries who undergo a mysterious procedure that separates their work and personal memories. While on the job, they are completely separate people — known as “Innies” at work and “Outies” outside. The show’s mix of corporate satire and suspense makes it an addictive watch.

“The Morning Show”

“The Morning Show” provides just enough corporate drama for everyone to relate to. The series takes viewers behind the scenes of a popular morning news program, exploring workplace politics and personal conflicts. Starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the show explores the complexities of media themes, scandals, and the cost of ambition. Be sure to catch up on the first three seasons before watching the latest season, now available on Apple TV.

“This Is Us”

No one can debate that “This Is Us” was a heartwarming show. Black people, in particular, would agree that Randall Pearson’s character was the main reason they tuned in. Randall, played by Sterling K. Brown, is the adopted son of Jack and Rebecca Pearson. Black viewers were able to identify with his storyline as he navigates acceptance, identity, and the challenges of being a Black man in a white family.

“Beverly Hills, 90210”

“Beverly Hills, 90210” was a drama series set in the early 1990s that followed a group of high school friends in the upscale world of Beverly Hills, California. The show did an amazing job exploring romance and friendships, while also incorporating heavy topics such as addiction, family struggles, and social pressures. From schools to beauty salons, this show had a strong following among Black fans.

“Melrose Place”

You couldn’t watch “Beverly Hills, 90210” without watching “Melrose Place.” This juicy soap opera followed young professionals living in the same Los Angeles apartment complex. The show’s over-the-top, messy drama made it a guilty pleasure for Black viewers.

“Sex In The City”

Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha were the girlfriends we all needed. “Sex and the City” was known for its bold take on relationships, sex, and everything in between, all while living in New York City. The fashion, the storylines, and the candid conversations had us all coming back every week.

“True Blood”

“True Blood,” a fan favorite drama on the HBO network, follows telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse. She navigates love, danger, and supernatural politics in a dark, twisted way in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps. Here, vampires “come out of the coffin” and live openly among humans. As wild as the show may appear, we absolutely love it.

“House of Cards”

The political drama follows ruthless politician Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), who manipulates, schemes, and stops at nothing to climb the ranks in Washington, D.C. The show’s consistent and intense drama made it a favorite among Black viewers.

“MobLand”

“MobLand,” this intense British thriller, follows Conrad Harrigan, portrayed by Pierce Brosnan, the patriarch of a powerful London crime family. The series centers on his deadly war with the rival Stevenson gang, while he and his wife, Maeve, portrayed by Helen Mirren, navigate the brutal world of organized crime and try to balance family loyalty with the demands of their empire. If you haven’t watched it yet, be sure to add it to your watchlist.

“The Girlfriend”

“The Girlfriend” is the latest psychological thriller that people can’t stop talking about. The story follows a tense rivalry between Laura Sanderson (Robin Wright), a protective mother, and her son’s new girlfriend, Cherry Laine (Olivia Cooke). When her son, Daniel, introduces Cherry to the family, Laura’s suspicions send viewers down a path of manipulation and doubt. The tension causes a rift between the two women, putting Daniel in the middle. This is an absolute must-see!

“Industry”

“Industry,” a highly rated show, follows a group of young, ambitious graduates competing for permanent positions at a prestigious investment bank in London. The series explores the intense world of high finance, workplace politics, and the personal sacrifices made in the pursuit of success. It’s a relatable display of ambition and grind that resonates with most Black audiences.

“Succession”

This dark, comedic drama follows the Roy family, the chaotic owners of a global media empire, as they battle for control of the company. The show does an outstanding job of exploring themes of power, betrayal, and family loyalty. Viewers are drawn to the characters’ complex personalities, making it a must-watch.

“Game of Thrones”

“Game of Thrones” is a fantasy drama that follows the ruthless power struggle and shifting alliances among families who desire control of the Iron Throne. Over the course of eight seasons, the show provided more than just a great storyline; it brought online audience members together, making every episode an event.

“House of Dragon”

“House of Dragon” is a fantasy/family drama that was set before “Game of Thrones,” capturing the rise and fall of House Targaryen in Westeros. The series explores power struggles, politics, and family conflicts as Targaryens fight to maintain their rule over the Seven Kingdoms. And who can forget about the real stars of the show: the fire-breathing dragons?

“Girls”

“Girls” is a hilarious drama that follows a group of twenty-something friends as they navigate life, love, and careers in New York City. The show offers a raw and honest portrayal of adulthood, taking a deep dive into friendship and self-discovery. We especially loved Lena Dunham and her amazing performance as the lead of the hit show.

“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”

Sarah Michelle Gellar owned her role in the hit television series, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” The show follows Buffy Summers, a young woman chosen to battle vampires, demons, and other dark forces while facing the challenges of high school and later, adulthood. The series blended action, humor, and drama, making it a beloved cult classic.
