All Grown Up! See Why Jennifer Hudson’s Son Has Fans Gushing

JHud gave birth to her son David back in 2009, of whom she shares with her ex-fiancΓ© David Otunga.

There’s nothing like the beautiful bond between a mother and son. And that bond was on full display over the weekend for EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson, who helped to celebrate her son David Otunga Jr.’s 15th birthday.

JHud shares the child with her ex- fiancΓ© and former WWE star David Otunga. They got together back in 2007 and announced their engagement less than a year later. One year after that, they welcomed David Daniel Otunga Jr. and began parenting together before their eventual split in 2017. And while Hudson has mostly kept him out of the spotlight as he grows up β€” save for the occasional glimpses of him we see on her Instagram for his birthday or their Mommy and Me momentsβ€”it seems as if he’s blossoming more and coming into his own.

Posing for a cute picture with each other (in which David Jr. looks like the spitting image of his mom), the β€œDreamgirls” actress gushed over her son captioning in the post to Instagram: β€œTeam JHud, can yal help me wish my kid @d.o.j10 a very happy blest birthday! I can not believe that I got a 15 year old! God is good! Happy Birthday my baby!!!!”

In the comments, notable celebs like Kelly Rowland, Anika Noni Rose, Octavia Spencer, Bebe Winans and more gave the young teen well wishes on his special day.

β€œHappy Big day young man and many more!!! Uncle Bebe,” Winans wrote.

β€œOH MY GOODNESSS!!! How beautiful!! Happy Birthday to your beautiful young man,” Rose wrote in part.

Hudson has previously spoken out about becoming a mom to a teenager, telling People back in November 2022 when he turned 13: β€œWhew child. Being a mom to a teenage boy. I feel like I have a new child at 13. Like, it’s like, hello I’m your mother! Like he has his own swag now, his own plans and ideas, and it’s trusting my teachers. You know, because he’s older now, he’s more independent and it’s like, well this is what we want them to be. So feeling confident enough to let him come into his own.”
