Serena Williams has long been forced to navigate skin bleaching rumors online. But this time, her husband wasn’t letting it slide. While Williams has previously gone on record rejecting rumors of skin bleaching, Alexis Ohanian stepped in to shut down the latest wave of speculation on social media.

The Olympian took to Instagram Tuesday to share a heartwarming photo of her family, telling her 18 million followers she loved the image so much she had to post it. While many fans responded with heart-eye emojis, others used the moment to revive hateful commentary. And let’s just say, Ohanian had time.
“Joy does not always roar; sometimes it whispers. It important [sic] to savor those sweet moments… I love this picture so I wanted to share it with you,” Williams wrote.
It wasn’t long before the Reddit co-founder and investor caught wind of the mess — and he didn’t hold back. Quoting the image, he asked, “Where are all the comments from idiots who don’t understand how photography lighting works?”
Y’all, he wasn’t done yet…and he just may have been clapping his hands in this next comeback. In an attempt to drag the matter further, one fan argued that, “Alexis wants Black people to believe we don’t know what photography lighting looks like vs blatant skin lightening.”
An hour later, Ohanian circled back and replied, “Or: photos from the same event can look different based on lighting.”
That said, most fans in the comments section appear to have nothing but well wishes for the family. And according to them, the haters should simply be ignored.
“So why are yah all stunning??” one fan complimented.
“Could you please ignore them?? Love how baby Sister’s smile lights up the pics…,” a second fan wrote.
“Someone really got you upset. Please ignore,” another said.
“Y’all look great. Ignore the haters. They are just jealous!” a fourth encouraged.
