In a new interview on the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast recently, the couple spoke about their respective music careers, parenting, and their relationship dynamic. During one moment in particular, Israel reflected on the moment he came clean to Adrienne during their friendship phase about how he cheated on his then-wife years ago.

As you well know by now, in 2016, the “Friend of God” singer admitted to “sinning in his marriage” years prior in a Facebook post. Though he and his ex-wife Meleasa tried to work things out, their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. The Grammy-winning singer, who fathered two sons outside of his marriage, later began dating Adrienne that same year with the two wedding officially in 2019.

Looking back on the moment, he realized he had to talk to the former 3LW singer about his past. Israel explained: “Once the world finds out, my life is over. My career is over, it’s where I was at. And my livelihood was attached to whether people thought I was a Christian or not. Or a super human Christian, by the way, like a super Christian. And what I shared with her was embarrassing and painful and all that. And I expected her to go, ‘See all guys are the same.’ “

However, in a shocking move, Adrienne then revealed that instead of casting judgement, she reached out her hand and prayed for him on the spot so that he’d know that he wasn’t his worst mistakes.

“That’s how I know moments like that are God because that’s not my natural instinct. My natural instinct is not to be like, ‘Let me pray for you,’” she said.

She then went on to say that her biggest fear in relationships is that her partner would cheat on her and shared that it’s still a very real thing that she currently has to reckon with.

“That to me would be the end, like that to me is like game over,” she said. “So to really believe that and know that I’ve preached that on ‘The Real’ and to be that person and then marry someone who has been that didn’t make sense to me at all in my logical mind. But in that moment, I don’t know. That’s how I know it was God.”
