Several photos with TMZ watermarks are making their way around the internet. In them, a mostly grey-bearded Combs is all smiles with his other prisoners, but on Dec. 1, TMZ issued a warning that should have folks more concerned about growing power of artificial intelligence.

“So, we’ve seen the viral pics of Diddy at Fort Dix federal prison… and we hate to burst your bubble but these ain’t real,” TMZ announced on X. Although the outlet has previously shared real pictures of Combs behind bars, these new ones are reportedly fake.

In one of the doctored photos, Combs can be seen hugging another inmate while a third takes their selfie. Another image shows Combs cheesing while serving food in what looks like a prison cafeteria. “It’s simply someone’s clever use of A.I., and it’s becoming more and more prevalent,” TMZ said.

But while many folks online were shocked to find out the images were AI, most Black folks claimed they knew from the beginning. “Anyone who believed these were real are fools,” @_ParadiseParis1 tweeted.

@okimfrthistime said, “Well yeah his name is Diddy not Giddy, even surrounded by men he still doesn’t seem like a happy person lol.”

“Anyone with a brain knew they were fake,” @YaAverageJet wrote. The most logical way to know these pictures were fake is that inmates couldn’t snap selfies behind bars without alerting prison staff about their illegal moves. This is of course is on top of the fact that the photos appear to be very high quality– which isn’t impossible to take from prison, but it’s certainly unlikely.

@KeyaraFoxx, however, admitted to being fooled… at least a little bit. “I definitely thought yall were putting money on the books for pics until I saw that pic with the baby oil and realized it’s all AI.”

Combs is still serving out his 50-month prison sentence after being found guilty on two counts of prostitution. A rep for Combs even told Complex, “These images are not real. They are A.I. fabrications. Sean has always treated people with kindness and respect, but it’s disconcerting how often manipulated or A.I.-generated images are being pushed into the conversation while he is in a federal facility.” He continued, “Nothing in these doctored photos reflects reality.”
