Lo has had her fair share of successes in the music and film industries, but nothing quite compares to the many properties she’s called home over the years.

Her architectural journey began in 2000 at the very start of her career, and thanks to Architectural Digest, The Root is breaking down the “On The Floor” singer’s life through her homes. From New York to California to Miami and back to California, these gorgeous properties don’t all belong to the star now, but surely, the stories behind them will intrigue you.
J. Lo’s First Mansion in Los Angeles

Lopez bought her first home in 2000, a year after her debut single “If You Had My Love” dropped. According to Architectural Digest, she paid $4.3 million for it. The house was packed with seven bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, an infinity-edge swimming pool, tennis court, playground and chicken coop. She only spent a few years here, however. In 2004, she sold it for $10.95 million.
Miami Bachelorette Pad

While still holding on to the Los Angeles property, Lopez set her sights on a home in Miami, which she bought in 2002. The beachfront property even had a koi pond, although a lot of other information about it has not been disclosed. She sold the house in 2005 for $13.9 million.
Moving in with Marc Anthony

The “Ain’t Your Mama” singer married Latin musical icon Marc Anthony in 2004. She quickly moved into his home in Long Island, where the former couple would raise their twins, Max and Emme. Later on, Lopez ended up buying a house right across the street from their family home. The couple was together for ten years before they officially divorced in 2014. In 2017, Anthony sold the property for $4.5 million.
Hiding Out in Hidden Hills

Around 2010, Lopez moved to expand her portfolio by buying a $8.2 million mansion in the Hidden Hills neighborhood of California. This mansion had nine bedrooms, 13 bathrooms and even a dance studio– which was perfect for the overall entertainer. She tried to make a hefty profit after putting it on the market for $17.5 million in 2015. It didn’t sell until two years later for only $10 million.
J. Lo’s Hamptons Vacation Home

Is it a party in the Hamptons without J. Lo?! One year before her divorce, Lopez snagged a gorgeous mansion in the Hamptons. The vacation home cost her $10 million and included a home theater, pool and steam room. This is one of the few homes the “Selena” actress still owns.
Return to New York City

It’s not surprising that the New York City native would eventually make a return to her old stomping grounds… Well, sort of. Although Lopez is from the Bronx, she bought a penthouse in Manhattan in 2014, which overlooks Madison Square Park. The property cost Lopez a whopping $20 million. “Perhaps the home’s biggest appeal was its additional 3,000 square feet of outdoor space spread across four terraces and its outdoor amenities that included a landscaped roof deck, croquet pitch, and putting green,” Architectural Digest reported. She put the penthouse on the market, but it took seven years for it to sell for $23 million.
An Almost Forever Home in Bel Air
Lopez bought a $28 million mansion in Bel Air back in 2016. And with koi ponds, a mini golf course, a 100-seat amphitheater and a man-made swimming pool, this was set to be Lopez’s “forever” home. She spent over a decade there before listing the property for $42.5 million in 2023. It later sold for around $34 million that October.
Park Ave with A-Rod

Of all of Lopez’s past relationships, her romance with former MLB player Alex Rodriguez– nicknamed A-Rod– certainly amassed the most interesting real estate purchases. In 2017, the pair took a leap of faith and moved in together. They bought a New York City condo for $15.3 million, but months later, they put it back on the market in order to have “more room for their blended family,” Architectural Digest reported. It sold for $17.5 million.
Malibu Beach House

J. Lo and A-Rod also bought a beach house in Malibu around the same time. But after renovations on the beach front property, the couple sold it in 2020 for $6.775 million.
A Pandemic Purchase

While the rest of the world was stuck inside due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lopez was working on expanding. She secured a home in Encino for $1.4 million. Although reports say she still owns this property, it’s unlikely she has ever lived there.
Star Island Property
Lopez and Rodriguez were doing their best to capitalize on cheap property offers during the pandemic! In their next venture, the couple purchased a $32.5-million, waterfront mansion on Star Island– located in Miami. It is 14,762 square feet and has an infinity pool, a cabana bath and a wine room. Although they announced their split in 2021, Lopez and Rodriguez still own this property.
Back to the Hills

Soon after splitting from A-Rod, Lopez not only rekindled her romance with actor Ben Affleck, but she also opted to get a rental unit in Beverly Hills. She and Affleck stayed here for years until September 2023, when the house was listed for $85 million.
Beverly Hills Post Office Mansion

It took a while for Lopez and her former husband, Affleck, to agree to buy a home together. That changed in May 2023 with the purchase in Beverly Hills’ Post Office neighborhood. In total, the 38,000-square-foot estate cost about $60.9 million. “The residence now includes a massive indoor sports complex, a home theater, a spa, wine and whiskey rooms, a blush-colored glam room, and a 155-foot V-shaped infinity pool, as well as a detached two-bedroom guardhouse, a caretaker’s house, a 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, and a 12-car garage,” Architectural Digest reported. The couple still owns the home as they have had trouble selling the property.
Back to the Hills… Again
In early Feb. 2025, Lopez bought a $17.5 million home back in the Hidden Hills neighborhood. This was her first major real estate move since divorcing Affleck in 2024. The home was built in 2014 and even has a “spa-like bathroom with a steam shower and an enviable soaking tub,” according to Architectural Digest.
