A$AP Rocky and Drake are the definition of the friends to enemies trope. The rappers gave us the one of the biggest records of 2012, but more than a decade later both men have made their personal problems with the other widely known. Now, Rocky is addressing what’s behind all the tension with the Canadian rapper.

To be honest, if you’ve been paying any attention to the Drake’s many rap beefs, then you should already know what his issue with A$AP– real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers– is. But if you haven’t, don’t worried, we got you covered!
Rocky recently interviewed with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden to talk about his new album, “Don’t Be Dumb.” During their chat, the topic of Drake came up– especially since Rocky dissed him on the album. And the Harlem rapper finally broke down exactly how he feels about their riff.
“I just don’t fuck with him,” Rocky said of Drake. “We was once friends. I feel like it’s over females. I feel like he wasn’t happy and he expressed that.”
If you’ll recall, Drake was featured on Rocky’s first single “F**kin Problems” with 2 Chainz back in 2012. Then, as the years went on, the two musicians became less friendly once a certain Bajan singer entered their lives…
Rihanna, who dated Drake sometime in the 2010s, now shares three children with Rocky. And while most of the world is happy for the Mayers family, it seems the Canadian pop star still can’t let his old thing go. He’s dissed Rih and Rocky many times over the years, but according to the “Punk Rocky” rapper, it’s not even real beef.
Both Darden and Rocky compared the ongoing tension to wrestling. “I think hip-hop tactics and beefs is, like, WWF,” Rocky said. “It’s like wrestling all the way, right? But this thing between us, it’s not real smoke.”
On his latest album, Rocky jabbed at Drake. “First you stole my flow, so I stole yo’ bitch… N****s getting BBLs, lucky we don’t body shame / Throwing dirt on Rocky name, turn around and copy game,” he rapped on “Stole Ya Flow.”
Rocky continued during the interview explaining how he’s bigger than the petty rap beef. “I think at some certain point when everybody getting older and it’s just like you supposed to be moving on, for you to still be picking at a female and all that, that’s soft to me,” he told Darden.
But he doesn’t want the new music to focus on just Drake, Rocky said. “It ain’t just about one person. I’m talking to whoever. Whoever feels like I’m talkin’ to ‘em.” During the interview, he also talked about his distant relationship with former A$AP Mob member Ferg.
“I haven’t seen Ferg in a minute, man,” said Rocky. “I always love Ferg. Ferg, he got a good heart.” The duo was once inseparable, but after Ferg changed his stage name from A$AP Ferg, the status of his relationship with Rocky has been up in the air.
“I saw a couple interviews where he was just like, he ain’t A$AP and he dropped A$AP from his name,” Rocky continued. “That s**t bothered me, but I ain’t gon’ hold it against him, and I wish him the best.”
