It’s a Small-Town Whodunnit That Packs A Big Punch
Fans of a good murder mystery will enjoy the one that unfolds in “His & Hers” because, like most real life crimes, it hits different when it’s in a small town versus a big city. In the case of this series, the murder takes place in Dahlonega, Georgia and sees Thompson’s Anna Harper as a reporter sent to cover it. Seeing as how she grew up there, she has a vested interest that only deepens once the victim of the crime is revealed to be one of her childhood “friends.”
As each episode plays out, we learn more and more about the connection Anna had to the victim, who all the victim was tied to (no pun intended, but you’ll catch the joke once you watch it) and the major connecting points that bring all the characters together. For a small town, it sure has a lot of big secrets and this show does a good job at peeling back the layers of them little by little until you get to the shocking end.
Tessa Thompson’s Acting and Outfits Are Top Tier
As to be expected, Thompson’s acting in this show is so entrancing , you almost forget that she’s not Anna in real life. The way she expertly embodies a reporter who had to deal with some trauma before getting back to work, the relentless attempts at trying to rebuild her life and the secrets that threaten to tear it all back down is something that a lot of actors could take some notes from.
And let’s not forgot the myriad of fire-ass monochrome outfits she wore every other episode it seems. From cobalt blue to fire red, Thompson is serving both sublime acting and ensembles. What’s not to love about that?
Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal Are A Duo You Didn’t Know You Needed
One thing about Hollywood is that eventually, they’re going to cast actors in a project together to where you’ll realize one of two things: “I didn’t know I needed to see them in a show together” or “They’re so unbelievable, I can’t believe they’re in a show together.” Thankfully, when it comes to the case of “His & Hers,” the overwhelming sentiment is the former.
Seeing Thompson and Jon Bernthal, who plays her estranged husband (and lead detective on the murder case) Jack Harper go toe to toe in certain scenes was some of the most enjoyable onscreen chemistry we’ve seen in a thriller in a while. During one scene in particular, while they’re going over what drove them to be so alienated with each other, their reactions and line deliveries are so authentic and raw—you almost forget that they’re acting. Yeah, they’re that good. (Author’s note: that moment almost made me shed some real tears and that’s not something that usually happens for me!)
TV Lovers Are Already Going Crazy Over It
If you take one look at the discourse online about the show, then you’ll quickly see that it’s already got folks buzzing. While some are already calling it the best thing they’ve ever watched, other’s are happy to be enthralled in some fictional mess as it filled whatever void they’ve had.

The Plot Twist At the End Is One You Won’t See Coming
Yes, we’re already in the middle of awards season and this show will have to be taken under consideration for the 2026-2027 cycle but MAN! If there was an award for Best TV Show Plot Twist in a Drama, it should definitely go to “His & Hers.” Just when you thought things had come to a close and you figured out who did what—the last 15 minutes of the final episode throws you for such a loop, it will honestly take you a minute to recover and try to retrace all the clues you missed.
