Why Was Megan Thee Stallion Suing Milagro Gramz?

In October 2024, the “Bigger in Texas” rapper filed a lawsuit against Gramz for alleged harassment and “churning out falsehoods” related to the 2020 shooting that happened between Megan and fellow rapper Tory Lanez. Megan’s lawyers argued that Gramz acted “as a paid surrogate” for Lanez (legally Daystar Peterson) and spread lies on his behalf with regard to details from the aforementioned incident.

The suit also claimed that Gramz shared a “deepfake pornographic video” of her to X/Twitter, accused her of having a “severe drinking problem,” questioned her mental status and labeled her both an ‘angry Black woman’ and a ‘lying ass hoe.’

As a result, she also sued Cooper over allegations of cyberstalking and emotional distress.

What Was the Verdict?

After a week-long trial towards the end of November, a Florida judge ruled in favor of Megan when it came to the counts against Gramz for “intentional infliction of emotional distress” and “promotion of an altered sexual depiction.” Gramz will have to pay the “Savage” rapper $59,000 in punitive and compensatory damages.

However, as noted by NBC 6 Miami, the defamation count it where things get tricky. That’s because the jury did find that Gramz defamed Megan by accusing her of lying under oath during her testimony at Lanez’s trial. Megan was awarded $16,000 in damages. However, the judge said “she would not include the jury’s defamation finding in her final order.”

The whole reason why the judge won’t do that is because the jury also agreed that Gramz qualified as a “media defendant” which meant that Megan’s legal team had to file a “pre-suit notice” to Gramz to let her know that they’d be suing before they actually filed a complaint.

So an overall win for Megan and a partilal win for Gramz as well.

How Megan and Gramz Are Responding to the Verdict

In the immediate aftermath of the trial’s ending, the “Cobra” rapper said she was “just happy” with how things transpired. However, though Gramz skirted out of a big defamation allegations, she still wasn’t pleased and took to social media to express as much on Tuesday.

“Imma start working on my mixtape because apparently the only place where you can bully people and talk crazy and pop sh*t is in the studio,” Gramz said in a viral video. “But anywhere else it’s off limits. So I’mma go get on my mixtape sh*t and make sure I channel all my energy into my raps and put that out and let that be artistic expression.”

She continued: “I hope that you can see the bigger picture and you can understand what new media is. I hope that you understand that the things that we do and the work that we put in is valuable. Solid b*tches they ain’t built, they born, you understand? I’m happy that I stood up for something I believe in, followed it all the way through, and I don’t need validation from anybody else about those things.”
