At approximately 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, police responded to a shooting in North Braddock, Pa., a borough 11 miles east of Pittsburgh. Apparently, a car was seen fleeing the scene, according to witnesses. A vehicle matching the description was stopped a few blocks away. Two of the passengers jumped out and one (a still unnamed 17-year-old) was shot and killed by the police.

A statement from county Police Superintendent Coleman McDonough appears to confirm these details:

He [the officer] stopped the vehicle and attempted to take the driver into custody. At that time, two other men in the vehicle exited and fled on foot,” McDonough said. “The East Pittsburgh police officer fired at the fleeing suspects. One of those individuals is a 17-year-old male. He was transported to [UPMC] McKeesport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m.

Also, a video circulating on Facebook appears to capture the shooting, and clearly depicts two people running away while the police fire multiple shots at them. One is shot in the back and falls off camera. (You can see the video here. Warning: The footage is very graphic.)
