Last night, the very first presidential debate between President Joe Biden and Republican frontrunner Donald Trump aired live on CNN. From the beginning there was notable skepticism—especially with the lack of Black media present for the event. However, it simply went downhill from there. “America needs to be single”
X user @kirawontmiss responded to the first presidential debate by simply stating “No president next election, America needs to be single for a while.”
“What is a Black Job?”
@Mightykeef summed up what everything was thinking when he said: “Trump said Hispanics are coming in to the USA and taking Black jobs. WHAT THE F*** IS A BLACK JOB???!!”
“Biden ain’t going nowhere”
Author Bakari Sellers insisted Biden is here to stay. “You’re not replacing him. So leave your random combinations in your chats. You’re not nominating Gretch or Gavin or Wes over Kamala,” he said on X. “Stop it. Organize. Vote. We are winning every swing state senate race and gubernatorial race (NC). Relax.”
“Oldest and whitest moment of the debate”
On X, @Phil_Lewis called the exchange Trump and Biden had over golf “both the oldest and whitest moment of the debate.”
“They shoulda just done hot ones”
Akilah Hughes had a better idea than doing a presidential debate to determine who should lead the country. “They shoulda just done hot ones and whoever lived can have it,” she quipped.
“This is the best we can do?”
@Felonious_munk shared his disgust over the debate by saying: “This is the best we can do @UnitedStates?”
“This is anti-Palestinian racism being normalized”
@prem_thakker quoted Trump saying during the debate “’Joe doesn’t realize Israel wants to keep going, and also he should let them, he’s being like a Palestinian, but a bad one’ is one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard.” @RashidaTlaib replied with: “This is anti-Palestinian racism being normalized.”
“Holy sh*t”
@brandonjinx called out Trump’s hate speech on X by saying: “’Black jobs’ is one of the craziest things I’ve heard. Which came right after ‘he’s being like a Palestinian, but a bad one.’ Holy sh*t.”
“Put an age cap on presidential candidates”
On X, @DaricCott suggested there be an age maximum for presidential hopefuls. “We gotta put an age cap on presidential candidates we already got a minimum we need a maximum. I’m sorry, it’s become too ridiculous.”
“Everyone has failed here”
Franklin Leonard shared how this debate is part of a bigger problem. “Everyone has failed here. Everyone. But especially the media,” he wrote.
SNL pre-written parody skit
Chris Williamson astutely noted: “SNL legit doesn’t need to write anything for a parody skit of this damn debate between Biden and Trump. It’s all been written for em.”
