The Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is warning mosques across the state and the nation to be on high alert since a local mosque started to be targeted with several racially charged phone threats a few weeks ago.

In a Facebook post yesterday, the organization detailed calls from an unidentified man using a Missouri phone number, saying that the man had called a Georgia mosque eight times, leaving more than 20 minutes of voice mail message.

Among the threatening messages left was this:

We are actually gonna come to your mosques and fucking blow the heads off of the people that are in your mosques and fucking kill you and shoot everybody in your mosques as a mass slaughter. So either way, you sand niggers are going to get out of my country…just so you know. And if you think I’m joking, it’s going to happen. In fact, I know where you live at.

And this:

The white people of America are going to kill you out of this country ...

CAIR Georgia and the targeted mosque have alerted federal and local law-enforcement officers. The mosque being targeted has previously faced anti-Muslim attacks and so has decided to remain anonymous to protect itself.

“This is what hate sounds like,” Edward Ahmed Mitchell, executive director of CAIR Georgia, said, according to the Facebook post. “Death threats are nothing new to our community, but these messages may represent the worst hate speech leveled against a Georgia mosque since the election. If any other houses of worship receive similar threats, they should immediately alert law enforcement, as well as their local chapter of CAIR.”
