When Adele was 13, concern about literacy trumped any she may have had about boys or makeup. She noticed that some of her peers struggled with words and realized that many people have little access to books. So she launched a book donation program. Adele's Literacy Library gives "everyone access to books, whether you're 13 or 90," says Adele, now 16. Since 2008, her group has distributed more than 5,000 books in Monroe Township, N.J. With her mom as chauffeur, Adele likes to put books in people's hands personally. "I have a basket, fill it with books and distribute."
