After weeks of attacks from conservatives, Obama's green jobs advisor resigned fom the administration saying he did not want to be a distraction: "I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past."

White House environmental adviser Van Jones resigned Saturday after weeks of controversy stemming from his past activism. "On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me," Jones, special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in a statement announcing his resignation just after midnight Saturday. "They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."

He continued: "I have been inundated with calls -- from across the political spectrum -- urging me to 'stay and fight.' But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future."

Anyone who is not willing to conceive more behind that horrific day, September 11, 2001 is extremely naive--extremely. Something more is up with that and we may never know until the next life. But with that said, I would not register as a conspiracy theorist--most people think they're crazy. However, if you've had a conversation with a conspiracy theorist, you will find that most are lucid and intelligent. Unlike any conversation you've had before, you will walk away thinking.
As for Van Jones, I'm sorry to see him caught in the fray. I watched his interview with Tavis Smiley over a year ago. Mr. Jones knew the subject of green jobs very well. I especially appreciate that he emphasized that more minorities should pursue the renewable energy industry as a viable economic future. I know he will rebound well in the private sector.
