Where Martha Stewart Got Her Craft

On Finding Your Roots, Martha Stewart learns that she's not the only domestic goddess in her family.

Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart sat down with The Root's editor-in-chief, Henry Louis Gates Jr., on his PBS series Finding Your Roots to discuss her Polish-American heritage. With Gates' help, Stewart learned about her grandmother's humbling voyage to America at the age of 16, as well as her family's penchant for crafts, textiles, cooking and more.

"I think that those [are] inherent interests because they did come down from generation to generation, pretty strong feelings for living the good life," Stewart said after learning about her family's craftsman history.

Watch a clip of Stewart on Finding Your Roots below. To find out all of Gates' findings, catch the full episode on Sunday, May 6, at 8 p.m. EDT/7 p.m. CDT on PBS.
