Rev. Al gives the details on his march with Tom Joyner, set for Aug. 27 in Washington, D.C.

Rev. Al Sharpton

The day before the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial is unveiled on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the Rev. Al Sharpton and radio host Tom Joyner are leading a rally to draw attention to the need for "jobs and justice." Sharpton told The Root that he expects 50,000 to show up on Aug. 27, including members of the civil rights community and labor representatives. Among the scheduled speakers is Dr. King's son Martin Luther King III.

During an interview on Aug. 11 in the studio of his syndicated radio show, Sharpton extended an invitation to readers of The Root. See it below and learn more about the rally at Black America Web.
