Mia Love, mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, made a mark on the national stage with a short but electric speech at this year's Republican National Convention. The crowd was demonstrative in showing its love for Love. "Mr. President, I'm here to tell you the American people are awake and we're not buying what you're selling in 2012," said Love, who's a proponent of limited government and fiscal discipline. A Mormon and rising star in the GOP, she has support from the party's big shots. Sen. John McCain, House Speaker John Boehner and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have campaigned for Love in Utah. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Haitian immigrants, Love says her parents had $10 in their pockets when they came to the U.S. She is running to become the first black Republican woman in Congress as a GOP nominee for the newly created 4th Congressional District; she's already the first black woman to be a mayor in Utah.
