Jason Moran's original jazz compositions and reinterpretations of classics stretch the genre's boundaries by blending classical, blues, rock, hip-hop, funk and the spoken word. Albums by the Houston native and Manhattan School of Music graduate include Modernistic, Same Mother and Ten. Moran has performed with artists such as Cassandra Wilson, Wayne Shorter and Marian McPartland and won a 2010 MacArthur Foundation fellowship. He serves on the New England Conservatory faculty.
