Growing up in Nigeria, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie lived in the same home that previously housed literary giant Chinua Achebe, author of Things Fall Apart. He called Adichie "a new writer endowed with the gift of ancient storytellers." More than a decade later, Adichie holds three degrees and has written two novels: Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun. Since her first novel appeared in 2003, Adichie has received the Commonwealth Writer's Prize and the MacArthur Foundation genius grant and is further exploring her interests with a fellowship from Harvard University's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Studies.
