Facebook executive Kay Madati brings his marketing expertise to bear for the top social network.

Kay Madati is a rare-enough presence in the online world as an African American with major authority for expanding the footprint of, and developing marketing concepts for, one of the world's most recognized social media brands. Formerly at CNN, where he took charge of audience-engagement efforts, Madati also worked in various marketing posts with BMW North America. A graduate of Georgetown University, Madati attended the Anderson School of Management at UCLA. Born in Norway and raised in England and in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, he is also a board member at Women's World Banking, a nonprofit microfinancing network of 39 financial organizations in 27 countries that works to increase economic participation and empowerment of poor and low-income women. He's also a board member of the Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School, and the board chairman of the Atlanta Heights Charter School in Atlanta -- both the logical adult expressions of a passion for education that surfaced in childhood.
