Hear Trayvon's Mom: 'Our Son Is Your Son'
The parents of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin addressed hundreds of protesters gathered in New York City's Union Square on Wednesday evening. We made an audio recording of their brief remarks to those gathered for what organizers called a "Million Hoodie March."
"George Zimmerman took Trayvon's life profiling him. My son did not deserve to die," said Tracy Martin during his address. "There's nothing we can say here today to bring him back, but I'm here today to ensure that justice is served and that no other parent has to go through this."
Telling the crowd that her heart was in pain, Sybrina Fulton said, "My son was not committing any crimes. Our son is your son ... It's not about [a] black-and-white thing; it's just about a right-and-wrong thing."
