DNC 2012: What Do Democrats Offer?
Last night Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick told the Democratic National Convention delegates, "We Democrats owe America more than a strong argument for what we are against. We need to be just as strong about what we are for."
Earlier in the day, The Root's contributing editor Elon James White posed a question along those lines to convention attendees, including Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and activist Van Jones, for a special edition of This Week in Blackness 2.0, brought to you by The Root: Why should voters pull the lever for Democrats in November, besides fear of what the Republicans might do?
"I do think that once this convention gets going, you will hear concrete ideas moving forward. The president has an agenda to create jobs that's not about cutting Mitt Romney’s taxes. It's about raising Mitt Romney's taxes -- and Obama's taxes -- and putting people back to work," said Jones, the former White House special adviser for green jobs who described himself as "not somebody who could ever be accused of being an Obama apologist."
