Scenes From Afro-Punk Festival 2012
(The Root) -- The eighth annual Afro-Punk Festival -- headlined by Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe and Gym Class Heroes -- went off without a hitch this weekend.
The two-day event featured musical performances from acts such as Das Racist, Toro y Moi and TV on the Radio on two different stages; artists painting live on enormous wall canvases; a street skate competition; food trucks; and a thrift market. It brought a refreshingly diverse set of alternative- and indie-culture lovers together at Commodore Barry Park in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, N.Y.
If you couldn't attend, here's some of what you missed.
