After hearing about the success of ???Passing Strange" at the Public Theatre, I was excited to learn of its transfer on Broadway. Yet, I am now sad because I missed both monumental successes. The Spike Lee film on "Passing Strange" is a plus to look forward to for those who experienced its live theatre performance. The film will assist you with reliving the order of the scenes and how you felt when your favorite "Passing Strange" song was performed. There's nothing like being apart of a live theatrical performance. Like the previous comment stated, I too am thankful for Lee's insight to preserve this Broadway musical on film.

I never got to see Stew perform, but I'm glad his work will be preserved. Thank you, Spike Lee, for helping this brother out. I noticed that few commercials ran for this show (unlike, say, "Legally Blonde"), and as always, it is an uphill battle trying to sustain economic viability in a crowded market. While "The Color Purple" had some staying power, it also had Oprah Winfrey and Harpo Productions behind it, a powerhouse organization. P. Diddy's turn in "A Raisin in the Sun" was a sold-out engagement. I see positive signs that middle-income Black Americans are building the infrastructure needed to support our artists and art projects, something that gays and Jews already have on the Broadway scene (Jackie Mason, Streisand and Midler, the Schubert theatres, shows concerning the interests of this community).

If you build it, they will come. Things are looking up for Afro-Americans on Broadway, and this is long overdue.

I LOVE Passing Strange. It was amazing. Good thing Spike has the insight to preserve this play on film.
