I am proud to be who I am and I am proud to be of the same color as Mandela. Mandela inspires me to be a better human being, because he is right, it does take courage to forgive. -

Nelson Mandela is to South Africa what George Washington is to the United States. Mandela is to be revered and loved--this is his due; he has earned it in for so many deeds. Remember that he is a man, not an icon, not an idol, but a flesh and blood man, subject to all that men are subject to. That is why he is so remarkable. He has shown it is possible, and so much more productive, to rise above one's own fears and hate, to recognize the humanity that exists even in the meanest enemy. I consider it a privilege to have been born in the same century as this man.
He even forgave Winnie for her treachery, for her inciting crowds of black South Africans to kill, maim, rape and torture their own people. THAT took some doing--to forgive the one who betrayed you the most, cut the deepest and threatened to destroy all you stand for. "Remarkable" doesn't even come close to describing him. There are no words adequate to describe his loving kindness, generosity of spirit and understanding. If he lived to be 1,000 years old, it would not be enough. -

This is an excellent article and Mandela is truly an inspiration to all African people. I live in the Bahamas and there was an era here where the White's ruled and blacks were slaves and were not able to go or use certain areas and facilities, so each of us have experience a little bit of what it was like to be a disregared race (Blacks) and since 1973 we have had a government who represents the people and not just blacks but whites also. So there is indeed strength in forgiveness and reconciliation. He is indeed a man of all times who chaged history and it shows that one person can indeed make a big difference.
Love this Man Nelson Mandela -
