The Clinton's started with their polarization -strategy with Bill Clinton's appearance on the Friday December 14, 2007 Charlie Rose Show . I was a bit
surprised by Bill's desperate demeanor . During the CR interview, Bill Clinton was desperation personified .

I lost some respect for him during that interview ;he was obviously and palpably desperate .

He reeked of the desperation of a used car salesman during a slow sales month .

It was borderline ,the old Joe Isuzu Isuzu commercials ; he even compared
(paraphrasing ) picking Obama over Hillary to selecting a cook to
perform heart surgery. No kidding , he actually said that .

HRC will never get a vote me. The Clintons' time has come to an END. If the role was reverse I am sure Obama would have bowed out gracefully. HRC really thinks that the election is owed her, she needs to wake up and smell the roses.
I have had enough of her for a lifetime; she's written her own history...

HRC must understand she is the only person who can guarantee a democrate win in Nov, The longer she waits to unite the party the better it is for McCain. She can't win the nomination at this point, her role now is to unite the party or divide the party, This a the test of her character.

I think Hillary and Bill are all about themselves and they believe so strongly in their righteousness that anything they do to advance their cause is justified. Bill has been particularly vocal in recent weeks about how offended he is that anyone would accuse him or his wife of playing the race card (it's almost as if he's saying, "...after all I've done for those ungrateful wretches!", which begs the question of what exactly did he do, but that's a topic for another day). Great column - just one correction, though. Wallace-LeMay ran on a third-party ticket in 1968. Wallace was seeking the 1972 Democratic nomination for President until he was shot and permanently paralyzed in Laurel, MD.

Hillary clinton is not a "happy camper"now. She was sure she was going to be the first women president of the Unites States.Things didn't go the way they were expected to go.This is often the case in politics. The fact she is losing the most important battle of her life is too hard of a pill for her to swallow. She must feel both angry and betrayed at this time. Many of her loyal supports must feel the same way.Who do they blame??How will this impact the presidential election in November??

vegasstyleguy, it is unfortunate that some have made comments to you of such a degrading manner. I am sure that just as Hillary has been painted in a certain light by the media and those following the race, wether in opposition or support of her campaign, the truth is bigots are gonna vote for Hillary, and they are gonna vote for Obama as well. Everyone feels strongly about their candidate, and understandably so. You must not however relate the feelings of a few onto the entire candidacy. As an Independent, I feel that currently, the tone of Hillary's stumping could be interpreted as playing up to the differences between voters, ie "white working class." At a time when it seems clear to everyone except for Clinton and her supporters that she will not be the nominee, I think she is doing more damage by pushing the voter divide. How to ensure a Republican is in the White House for 4 more years, have Hillary continue her campaign in a divisive way as opposed to one that would bring people together.
And just so you know, as an Independent I voted for Hillary in our California primary.

OR, IN MY CASE, "OH YOU MUST LIKE WHITE D**K, YOU'RE AN OREO, WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO BRING A BROTHER DOWN, HOW CAN YOU NOT VOTE FOR THE BROTHER, YOU NEED TO STOP BEING GAY AND FIND YOUR CULTURE", THE LIST GOES ON.

YOU BETTER WAKE UP. I JUST SPENT A WEEKEND AT NEVADAS DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION. THE WHITE PEOPLE ARE REALLY UPSET AT BEING BRANDED RACISTS EVRYTIME THEY QUESTION OBAMA. BTW, REV. WRIGHT, "BITTER", MY RACIST GRANDMOTHER, THE FLAG PIN, MICHELLES TRULY IDIOTIC NEVER BEEN PROUD OF AMERICA COMMENT, ALL MATTER TO THESE PEOPLE AND THE LACK OF RESPECT GIVEN THEM HAS THEM TRULY UPSET.

AND GUESS WHAT? THEY ARE NOT RACISTS! THEY ELECTED ME TO GO DENVER IN AUGUST AS A DELEGATE. THEY WANTED TO SEND SOMEONE WHO STOOD FOR REAL, NOT FAIRYTALE, CHANGE. WHO WOULD FIGHT TO THE END FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN. I AM THAT PERSON. REGARDLESS OF SEXUALITY, COLOR OR MY COMPLETE LACK OF RELIGION, THEY PICKED ME. I DOUBT AS A GAY MAN THE OBAMA SIDE WOULD HAVE DONE THAT ESPECIALLY SINCE I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD PRAY FOR ME AFTER I ANNOUNCED AT THE CONVENTION.

My comments are regarding the efforts of many in the media to "downplay" racially bad behavior.

Many people in our comtemporary society confuse racism with racial prejudice. It is often said that a person who says or does something that is either insulting or offensive to another race is racist. This, however is far from the truth.

While all racist are racially prejudice, many who are racially prejudice are not racist. This does not howver, excuse either behaviors or attitudes of those who harbor these beliefs.

Both have been the root cause of discrimination against African Americans and other minorities in this country.

Both Hillary, Bill and Geraldine Ferraro have demonstrated behavor that is consistent with people who are "racially prejudice." This is without question the reason why these individuals have engaged in race politics and race baiting.

Prejudice is something that exist within the soul of people and many are taught to be racially prejudice thru stereotyping people of other races as different or inferior....maybe "Wright" was "Right" in some areas!

People who harbor, condone, ignore, or "appease" individuals who are either racist, or racially prejudice are nothing more than contributors to cancer that exist in this nation, and has negatively affected people color for many generations.

There is no excuse for this behavior!...but there is hope...Obama!

Where is the media on this topic ?????? When 93% of Blacks vote for Obama is is nothing but a strong show of support. When Hillary does well with white voters it is racism . What is even sillier is that Blacks vote close to 100% for Democratic candidates. There fore Hillary is the stronger candidate . As the Democrat party already has the Black vote wrapped up it is the white vote that it needs .

In this commentary, you state, "even though Clinton is no racist." Why are you so sure of this? Why have we in the black community remained silent and not called out the Clintons the same way we would in any other white politician who would have behaved as the Clinton's have. It is almost paternalistic in that we simply can't speak out about their behavior. The Clinton's "liked" Black people when we bahaved liked "faithful" children, blindly voting and supporting them. The instance, we demonstrated "free will" and chose another candidate, they joined in the "red neck" game of race-baiting and steretypes just like everybody else...it some ways this is even more racist because the Clinton's know better. Remember, we don't get to just use the word "racist" for peeople we don't like, we need to use when it describes a certain behavior or we lose our credibility and ability to name it when really happens. And if what the Clintons are doing, isn't racist behavior, then what is?

Too nice a gesture in conceding a Clinton is not racist, on the side of angels, or in good fatih. Her energizer bunny performance and race baiting enabling of violence directed at Obama helps create an atmosphere where what Don Imus called "doing a Ron Brown" could be blamed on the country rather than its most likely provenance. Only bias or naivete can explain the media's collective amnesia about Sister Souljah to Vince Foster, a littany of racist and violent activities that surround their joint legacy.

What drives the passionate hated of those opposed the Obama? If he yelled, shouted or jumped about, like Hillary then they would quickly label him the "Samuel L Jackson, angry man". Or if he wasn't superiorly educated, they would brush him off as some small time troublesome neighborhood activist. Envy and jealousy, I suspect from both African American and Whites fuel the fire of hatred toward a man who just asks America to be all that its' claimed to be. Some still say he hasn't layed out a clear plan---then those are the willfully ignorant that get information from soundbites and not the candidate's mouth. They choose to listen to so called pundits and not log on to BarackObama.com. It's clear that Barack is what we've all been waiting for. Stop fighting change-- For the women that support Hillary, it's ok to love her, but she needs a toughlove nudge from you guys. She says she doing it for you--then you need to let you girl know that it's time to stop playing checkers 'cuz the game is chess now.

How can blacks scream about how racist this country is, then when a person points out that Obama can't win because of a racism the person who says it is declared racist. So stating facts is now racist?
Sure, you can label anyone racist because there really is no way to defend against the accusation.
I don't like Obama. OK, so now you think I'm racist. The fact that he doesn't have enough experience, hasn't really laid out his agenda in any concrete way, has some shady business ties and suports 'Clean Coal' is not allowed into the debate. Only I'm white, I don't care for Obama, therefore I'm a racist. Case closed. Whatever.
Live in the dark. Rednecks will not vote for the black guy, no matter how much you wish it so. Black is the only reason they need. It's what whites are accused of everyday by blacks, but now just pointing out that inconvient truth makes you a racist.
I'm so over it! There's no way to have logical discourse with an Obamaista.

I am not sure I agree with the final four words of Jack White's comment below.

"Inevitably, the frustrations triggered by the loss of a white candidate like Clinton to a black candidate like Obama were bound to transmogrify into racially-tinged rhetoric, even though Clinton is no racist."

Hillary/Bill might not have been racists in the past when they used Black support to gain the White House. As long as Blacks were supporting the Clintons political objectives and aspirations the Clinton's were happy with Black America. However, when a Black politician (Obama) became a threat to their political future they began to show an ugliar side to their characters. They are politicians and will say or do anything they can get away with to win.

Hillary may not be a racist, but she sure sounds like one. I suspect that many of the Clinton's Black supporters will make excuses for the Clintons---not me.

The Clintons have ALWAYS been willing to play the race card when it suits them. What perpetually astonishes me is people's willingness to forgive and forget their racist pandering (ie. Bill Clinton's race back to Arkansas to sign the death warrant on a mentally disabled black man when he was slipping in southern polls during the 1992 election). We should not be shocked at this turn of events, only appalled and angry that anyone voted for her in the first place.

Yes, and when you combine that racism stuff with the massive amount of women-hating vitriol slung at Clinton by both the left and right together, we ALL have a mess - it is simply that the mess that was already there, in all of us, finally made visible. GOOD. Now we can deal with it. America is racist. America hates women - especially older ones who are smart. Nobody is free of this and we ALL need to work on it. So lets ALL stop being so self-righteous, look in the mirror, and figure out what we can do about it. At least the dems DID vote for Obama and Clinton - while the repubs are fronting with their white, rich, male as usual.

When are people going to come to grips with the fact that Clinton(s) are the same today as she/he were yesterday as will be the same tomorrow. This time there is a black in her way. Tomorrow? Who knows and it reallly does not make any difference. One on the many rumors for the dealth of Vince Foster was that he was going to admit that he was the father of Chelsa Clinton. That would put a damper on the Clintons to say the least. As it turned out Foster did not have a chance to make that confession. Even if this case turns out to be false, it in know way lessens the the mind set of the Clintons.

At first blacks weren't voting for him because he wasn't black enough, now they are voting for him because he is half black; the racists are the blacks because 90+% are voting for the "black" cadidate because he uses the nebulous phrase "change". And you really are elitist when you talk against "white working class" in closed rooms in San Francisco and you make comments about the price of "argula at Whole Foods". what a ridiculous comment to make when so many people can't even afford to shop at Whole Foods!! And a lot of whites would support Colin Powell that would not support elitist Obama, so it is stupid to say they are racist.

How could Black support of Obama be seen as racist when a plurality of African- Americans supported HRC in the beginning of her campaign. The African-American switched to Obama when he began winning and became a viable national candidate. As for the race issue Black people have supported white Democrat candidates wholeheartedly since FDR. What those people in W.V. and Kentucky are saying is that under no circumstances would they ever support a Black democrat candidate.

About the statistical point being made. It is interesting to me how she never references the fact that she can't win without African-American support whuch she does not have. He doesn't have the "hardworking vote" and I would venture a guess that she has lost so much African-American support that she might have problems in NY in 2012. She should quit now and hope BHO is gracious enough to help her mend fences in NY state.

I'm not saying any of it is right, but I believe there is a subtle difference.

Stop. You say Hillary's entire public life before this election was on the side of the angels. Then you say she is no racist. BOTH of those statements are TRUE. So is it racist when 90% of blacks vote for Obama? So why is it a problem if whites vote for Hillary? So some of the whites who vote for her are racist -- don't you think some of the blacks who vote for Obama are also racist? These comments, like the one by QueenPrize about "white/whitey's true colors" are a perfect case in point. Hillary would be fighting a white young opponent with Barack's record just as hard. She's NOT racist, she's just a tough fighter who wants to win. And Barack's not racist either, nor is his pastor. Jesse Helms -- he was a racist. Hillary and Obama are both great choices for President and I'll happily support whomever wins the nomination. I admire them both so much for different reasons. First, because of their positions which are virtually identical. But Hillary- for her tenacity and true grit. Obama -- for taking the high road, trying as best as he can to stay above the politics of personal destruction. I appreciate a good fight, it makes them both stronger. Now if only the supporters of each can just stay civil and back the winner, no matter which one it is, we will have a Democrat back in the house.

Of course black people are supporting Barack Obama because he's black, AND because he's articulate AND he presents an ideal version of black family life AND he's intelligent, AND because he seems to do and say all the right things. But mostly because he put himself out there in the way we've wanted, that courageous moral presence we've been missing since April 4, 1968.

So now stating true statistics is being "racist"? If black Americans (sorry unless you immigrated from Africa, you are not an African-American) widely supported Clinton in the past why do so few support her now? The differences in Obama's and Clinton's policy goals are not that big so what has motivated 90+% of black voters to support Obama? Is it racism or sexism? Something tells me it is not the fact she is a woman.
