    I find it absolutely amazing that there is so much faith in Obama, a fellow most had not even heard of just a few short months ago. In fact, all that we really "know" about him is the little that we've been spoon-fed by his campaign. Other than that, there's just this blind excitement because he is Black and well-educated - emphasis on "BLACK". This man, however, has not been vetted - AT ALL - and we really know next to nothing about him. So, forgive my reluctance, but I still want to know JUST WHO THE HELL THIS GUY REALLY IS? WHAT DOES HE REALLY BELIEVE? Bottom line, although I assume that I risk danger, especially from Black females (who appear to be his core support), - I SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT OBAMA TO SUPPORT HIM. PERIOD. I'm sorry. AND IF YOU'RE HONEST WITH YOURSELVES FOR A MOMENT, ASIDE FROM HIS "BEING BLACK", THE REST OF YOU DON'T EITHER!

    What is the "Tiger Syndrome" and what does it have to do with ones ability to educate and prepare themselves for the journey to the great 'White House'?

    Is it not enough that some have learned so little from the legacy of Rev. MLK?

    And what of Gods will for any man in this trodden down world to succeed, is it not enough to hope that someone will rise above the nothingness this world seems to always offer when the dark horse comes into the light?

    Roll on the day when race or gender will cease to be of relevance in the world and we can all share the planet in equitable way!!

    What Obama and Tiger makes us face is that many of Americans are mixed and or have some family mixed. We don't talk about it. Then there is the hero factor, we can't help but to admire anyone who make it to the top desipte adversaties. One day long and faraway we all might be able to shed the burden of race.

    i find this refreshing and very interesting.i'm definitely interested in receiving more of this insightful material. senator obama i feel is an individual that's GOD sent.there are so many evil forces out there that are against him and for him to sustain his sanity is amazing.i'm sure his faith in GOD sustains him and publicly he refuses to acknowledge the evil forces in a negative manner.he speaks of all people,not by race and he reaches out to give them hope.even with the reverend wright situation,initially he refused to disown the "man" as he was being pressured to do.weeks later when the rev wright went to washington at the national press club and stated some offensive remarks,then he left senator obama no alternative,either his seeking the presidency dies or he has to repudiate rev wright as a man.senator obamas decision was right.rev wright was given a forum to prove all the prior negative publicity was incorrect with altered soundbites.the rev wright choose "mockery" and embarrased himself.

    Yeah, unfortunately, it will be a while to wake up our political system and our country's beliefs. I'm white, but have never been racist, nor have my parents, despite both of their sets of parents being that way. I learned in 2003 from an aercheological book, "The Real Eve", that the oldest female Homo Sapien skeleton was found in Africa and the mitochondrial DNA from those bones matched native African peoples' mitochondrial DNA(same with the oldest male's bones), meaning "Adam" and "Eve" had black skin. So, racism is stupid for many reasons, but especially since all humans' ancestors, the 1st 2 humans, originally had black skin, and then over thousands of years, human beings skin color changed to adapt to the amount of sunlight hitting that area of the Earth. I'm mad that this scientific discovery didn't receive much attention, illustrating what my fellow brother humans with black skin already know, that this country is mostly still racist!

    @Chaz

    No matter if Barack Obama is African, bi-racial or Black, he will still be treated as a black person in the U.S. Therefore his experiences with America are akin to the similar experiences of Blacks in the U.S. and he embodies these experiences. It's unfortunate that no matter you background or where you grew up or came from, our skin color is the ultimate factor that determines how we are perceived.

    I was watching a documentary a few days back about the first Dominican baseball players that played for the San Francisco Giants. When the players played in the South they had to abide by the same Jim Crow laws as Black players. It didn't matter that they came from the D.R. to play baseball and some knew nothing about the laws. What mattered was that their skin was brown.

    So, it doesn't matter that Barack's father came here on his own or that his mother was white. His white is obviously Black and so are his daughters and in-laws. What matters is that he has experienced America as a Black man. Black Americans can relate to that and so should whites for that matter. Whites and blacks are aware of their own prejudices, just like I'm aware of what color shirt I put on when I stepped out of the house this morning. It's a cloak we choose to wear.

    While it is nice that Obama may inspire other to aspire to high office. I never thought to read the expression "hyphenated-Americans" in a favorable manner.

    Aren't we all aspiring to be unhyphenated Americans? It reeks of a crazy racism: How many hyphenated American produces a child with the same ethnicity? Not many, I would think. Whites at least, should aspire to being Unhyphenated Americans. Nobody likes labels. I never heard of anyone wanting a label that detracts or qualifies their identity! Damn the pollsters and politicians who want to label and conquer!

    Obama himself has nothing in common with 99% of "African"-Americans. His "father" was a voluntary immigrant from Africa. It???s the difference between whites who have Holocaust survivors ancestors and whites who aren't Jewish. Do black Americans related to Obama? Why? He might as well be Japanese for all the connection he has to Black Americans yet he is called "African-American"! These hyphens tell you less than nothing about a person.

    How did Tiger Woods get to be arguably the greatest golfer in American history? What special circumstances helped him achieve this position? What did he have that other potential golfers missed? Were the circumstances that shaped his life so unique that no other black can aspire to a similar situation? What did Papa Woods do to make his child a champion that other black parents can emulate? There are two black sisters out there (forget their name) following in his footsteps. What are their parents doing? Come on, let's take some responsibility.
