My sister and I had the same experience. She was diagnosed with stage 4 *** cancer at age 48. She died 9 months later. I was also diagnosed at age 48 with stage 2 *** cancer. I am in my 4th year of remission.

Thank you for posting this article. As a African-American woman who's sister has been diagnosed with the early stages of *** cancer I'm very interesting in every study about *** cancer.

How can brothers help our sisters in this fight? My mother passed from *** cancer some 20 years ago and I often wondered if my father wonders if he could have done more for his wife, through encouragement to get mammograms or self exams... or even participation in a study like the Sister Study. I ask this as a brother who has been affected by this disease through my mothers battle and would hope to provide some information to my wife and others... because this is great and needs to be done!

10% of women in the study are Black. While I agree that it is important for all women to participate if they are eligible and able, it does not seem that you provide support for why the percentage of women in the study should be disproportionate to that of the general population. Does *** cancer affect Black women disproportionately? Does the percentage of Black women diagnosed with *** cancer comprise much more than 10% of all women diagnosed with *** cancer? That would be helpful information.

I am participating in the Sister Study. I have my second phone call on Thursday. I still haven't opened that box and filled out the forms. I will do it today. My sister is a *** cancer survivor, and this study will not help her. It will help others, though, and that's enough. One sister to another.
