Dear Saaret,
I read your article and...
So you're saying there's NO place on this planet I can get away from this BS.
God.
If you could hear the sigh that came from me.

I can definitely relate to Saaret's unfortunate experience. As an Ethiopian, I also thought my native country was a safe haven from racism and prejudice that I sometime face in America. But I too was wrong. I was in a crowded restaurant in Addis when a waitress picked up our drinks and placed it on the floor so that she can give the table to white customers. I was surprised by my reaction since under normal circumstances I would have slapped the day light out of someone who had done the same. Or maybe it's because my cousin beat me to it. Instead, I just sat there for a moment and thought about how the perceptions of our people has changed not only how see our race but also how we glorify other races. What happened to all the pride and self-respect that Atse Theodros, Emperor Minilik thought us???

I'm a jamaican and i love Ethiopia. But this thing they have of putting the white man first if they don't take care it will have serious consequence. All of Africa for that matter. People in the West constately tell us to go back to Africa, and when we go there, they don't want us. Orliande
