Money comes and goes, Morality comes and GROWS!!! Untill we realise this, we can never be helping the mankind. Money is not everything in life. When you do something with passion, success is bound to come always and need not worry about that. And when we do something with passion that too at work, it gives immense satisfaction to us and all around us. In this life of a short period, we need to realize that its not money, name or fame alone which is important. These are important, but these have to be earned by honest means. Its nothing, literally nothing which we can take with us when we would breathe for last. So lets all re- work and rethink on being a great asset for our society by following good morales and being good to humanity. As a Quote says correctly, 'Hands that help are holier than lips that pray'. God always gives and forgives, but we always get and forget. Lets start developing love for humanity and all these problems and bad vices would go far off from us, which in turn will ensure us of safe commodities and absence of cut throat competion through undesirable means. sai@intelliswift.com -

Clearly the author has no understanding of biology. If you're concerned about the early onset of puberty in girls, which I am, human hormones pose a much greater threat than bovine hormones. Let's look to the high concentration of human hormones in our water, due to unabsorbed hormones from birth control pills, before we irrationally lash out against sources with no scientific basis. Science should always win out over fear, this isn't the dark ages people. -

My question is why would the company that's producing this hormone having a problem with the store's labeling the milk that won't have this hormone in it ? I know money is the root to all evil. but let's think about the kids that's having growth problems and menstrual problems and things like that first. That's more important than anything.!!!!. -

I HAVE TO AGREE COMPLETELY WITH THIS STORY. THE YOUNG GIRLS ARE GROWING LIKE WILD FLOWER. THEY ARE HAVING MORE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR MENSTRUAL CYCLE THAN BACK IN THE DAY. THE COMPANIES SELLING THIS STUFF IS GOING TO DENY TO THE END THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. BECAUSE, THIS IS THEIR MONEY MAKER. THE FDA GETS A CUT TOO. !! SO WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON??? WHO CAN YOU TRUST NOW A DAYS. ?? -

p.s. the author apparently doesn't understand the difference between peptide hormones (like insulin) and steroid hormones (like estrogen), leading to her speculation regarding early onset of puberty. This is like not knowing the difference between viruses and tapeworms. Please, if you don't know the facts, either learn them or just don't write the article at all. -

jchilliard is correct--this article is grossly irresponsible. The author refers to "common sense," but the problem is that when it comes to issues of science and health, common sense is not sufficient--scientific knowledge is required. The most egregious error in this article is the assumption that the hormone enters the milk, when in fact it does not. Even if it did, it would be broken down by the digestive system if a person drank it. If peptide hormones could be efficiently delivered orally, diabetics wouldn't have to give themselves shots. I'm no shill for industry, and I'm sympathetic to the author, but if you don't understand the science, defer to someone who does. -- LS, MD, PhD -

There is definitely something to be said for this. How is it our girls are developing so quickly? It has to be the food and what is put in it. I cant just say it is only the milk but probably a combination of foods. I have a 7 year old daughter who now has underarm hair! It is better to be on the safe side and buy the organic milk. I would rather pay a little now then have to deal with a more costly medical issue later. -

Until we get to a quality labeling Law, none of this mean very much at all. Also, there are many indications that foreign produced products that can be shipped into this country without being inspected for any type of Standards. In some cases if they have a problem getting it into the country, they can change the label and the country of orgin. The problem that has to be eliminated is the criminal eleminated that drive this process. -

It is so important that we choose hormone-free milk, that we fight to have clear labels on the origins of our food, and that we are vigilant against the giant pharmaceutical companies like Monsanto. They are nothing nice. This reminds me of the FDA ruling recently that we don't have to be told if we eat cloned meat. I wrote about that on my blog (blog.candelariasilva.com). The article was entitled, "Don't Have a Cow."
Thanks for writing aobut this important issue.
