We can't miss the boat, I too some times believe we can't dwell on the past but must move forward as a child of segregation and a recipient of what came after my concern is we have forgotten how to give back. Each generation must be willing to instill in the succeeding generation the pride of self esteem, race and accomplishment. The message should be each one of us must reach out to the rest of us.
We can't despair about drugs in our neighborhoods if we are not living there. We can't read the paper and say how sad if we are not showing young brothers and sisters the way out is to buy in; into the idea he or she is worth more than to be a statistic counted in in the jail cell numbers or how many were killed in a certain year. Our survival depends on us moving from a fragmented group to a cohesive family unit. It starts by saying " Love ya my sisters and brothers".' -

In the sixties in lived in E. Orange, which was voted the cleanest city in America, but I partied in Newark. Outside of NYC,Newark had the best Jazz clubs in the east. It was safe to ride the bus and walk the streets. All that change with drugs. Sharpe James has brought the city a long way back. Booker inherited a lot of the Good that will come into fruition during his rein thanks to Sharpe's hard work. -

Where is the video interview with Ms. Dargan? I would love to know more about her life as a police officer.
