The whole system is jacked. You can't tell a kid to focus on basketball more than academics for his first 18 years of life and then expect him to be able to excel at college-level academics. If you want black AND white players to graduate, you have to start before the womb. -

I was shocked to see two Texas schools with such poor graduation rates. Where can we find information on college graduation rates dissagregated by race and gender? Is this information available to the general public? -

What do you think colleges and universities should do to help athletes graduate? Do you think there's a promise implied in accepting a student athlete -- you mention support services -- that's not implied for students accepted to the university who are not on athletic scholarship? Do you believe that in high profile NCAA sports, the college or university is "using" the athletes to build their program and attract more athletes, so that the universities owe those athletes more than they owe regular students? Or do you believe that full scholarship to university covers that obligation?
