Not only will Black Democrats abandon Clinton over Obama . . . So will many White Democrats who support Obama because of the unfying change he offers. How do I knw that? I am a 58 year old White male and I know many other White Demcrats who are disgiusted with the Clintons' (plural) tactics. We cannot reward the horribly wrong choices of the Clintons . . . It would only perpetuate the "Old America" so many of us of many racial and ethnic backgrounds have fought for decades to reform. I will not vote if Hillary is the Democratic nominee! -

Great article, and the writer is absolutely right. Why should blacks (especially blacks) vote for Clinton if Obama somewhow does not get the nomination? For too long I have seen these types of tactics played upon us, we fall for it, and get seriously dissed in the end. If politicians want our vote, then they have to give us what we're asking for. It's only right. -

Regrettably, the Democratic Party will lose my vote (for the first time) should Senator Clinton become the nominee. Period. I am ashamed of her behavior and I will not support her. I too have contacted several Democrat Senators and party leaders to express this. I suggest everyone do the same! -

If Obama goes into the Democratic convention with a lead in delegates and is not selected as the nominee, I am done with the Democractic party. For years Black voters have supported white Democrats for every office with hope that someday when a qualified Black candidate arrived that he would get white support. This is not to say that previous black candidated were not qualified, but Obama is the (Sidney Poitier-Guess Who's Coming To Dinner) candidate. He has done everything right, no marks on his record from education to community service to Senate record. If he can't be elected to office no Black man can. If the Democrats want to prove the what the Repoublicans have been saying for years, that they take the Black vote for granted, let them turn their back on Obama. I guarantee you Blacks will walk away from the Democratic party in mass. -

I agree---with every word. I'll add this: if blacks fall in line behind Hillary, should she get the nomination, then what will show her, and those of her ilk, that certain lines should not be crossed? I'm out. Obama wins the nomination, I eagerly vote for him. If Hillary wins, for the first time since I was eligible, I'm sitting this presidential election out. -

Why not take Ferraro for what she is? An aggrieved supporter whose party is losing. Sure she was outdated and politically and racially incorrect, but where is the ire at the Obama manager who referred to Clinton as a "Monster."
It sounds as if these strategies employed by both campaigns, works effectively to manipulate voters. All the women upset by the Obama Campaigns' "Monster" remark has turned to Hillary. All the blacks who are upset by Geralidine's racial politics have couched with Obama moreso.
I find it rather amusing that Obama is black except when white people say he is.

I initially wrote the following on January 14th 2008:
The Clintons, particularly the ex-POTUS, opened the Pandora box, NOT Barack.
In deference to being succinct, after two things:
(i) the absolutely unattractive Clinton campaign after HER coronation ("it WILL be me," she said to Katie Couric, LONG BEFORE Iowa) was threatened, and
(ii) Bill Clinton's performance, particularly post-Iowa, pre-New Hampshire,
black people should eschew ANY semblance of owing the Clintons ANYTHING, it's just as simple as that.
Race? B.S.!!!!! It's the CLINTONS, and more specifically, BILL (yes, Mr. ex-POTUS, no less!!), who opened the Pandora's box with his distortions and insinuations. Race? Give ME a break, this time. If Iowa did not do what it did the coronation, HER coronation, would have already taken place.
It is PRECISELY BECAUSE, it's absurd to refer to the Clintons as "racist", why their performance, especially, slick Willie's, is so invidious. It's simply that ALL other dreams, including MLK's, can wait, if they get in the "Hillary-for-potus" way. Thus ALL, yes, ALL!!, stops must be pulled, to fulfill their self-absorbed wish.
Re word count limitation I will submit a second. -

People can say what they will or may about Obama, but I can truly say he has not said anything negative about Hillary. He isn't mud slanging, he is sticking to the needs of the people. He has integrity, honesty and not trying to hurt anyone but willing to help everyone. -

I agree with you Mr. BoBo. Maggie is the one who went to the church that Obama attend and got that tape. Its sad that in 2008 we still have house_____, pimping for the Clintons. What is Bill doing giving her cigars.
The Clintons have made negative statements about Blacks and allow people that support her to make racist statements. The thing that the Clintons is staying away from is their daughter shacking with her boyfriend. Hillary is a demon. I would vote for McCain before I vote for her. -

All Blacks are not in agreement with the Clinton's. I am shocked wilth all the negitave comments of Bill. Blacks put him in office when he ran for president. Why is it that the Clintons expect the Blacks to turn their back on Obama. I am a black women who once lived in the South, I have experience the racism, cross burning and not being able to enjoy the life of freedom. Obama is not racist or will be a President for Blacks only; he will be a President that will change the nation for the betterment of all mankind. I am sorry that Maggie sold her soul to the Clintons for a mighty dollar. Maggie was the one that attend the church that Obama attends and got that tape. Being from the South I want everyone in the United States of America to understand that the minister in the tape didn't call Hillary names, he was comparing the her lifestyle to Obama's life style. We live in America the ridhes country in the United States but yet some many are living in poverty, and we still have the working poor class. I haven't heard Hillary address any issues pretaining to poor people, poverty stricken people, however, I did hear her say to the middle class how they were going to take America bad. I agree with you Mr. Bobo before I vote for Hilary I will vote for McCain first. Bellini what we can do is write our State Rep. and Sen. letting them know how we feel about the Dem. Camp. GOOBAMA! -

To those of you who have spoke of their dismay at the Clinton Machine for being divisive, the answer from them is "..so what?". Once it became clear that they lost a majority of the Black vote, they let the dogs out. They have no reason to keep pretending that they "love" us and intend to show us ingrates that they certainly don't need us. -

The Clintons have ripped a tear in my soul that can not be repeaired. I try convincing myself that I could vote for her if she won, but I can't, I think of the people who died fighting for my right to vote, I feel they would be disapointed in me for not voting and for allowing someone to taked my vote for granted, So out of respect for those who died, I will cast a vote, I think we all should, and with that vote send a message to the Dems never, no more, again. just imagin CNN and MSNBC Ralph Nader has won 90% of the Black vote in, NC. SC GA NY CA. VA. Ct LMAO, talking about the shot heard around the world LMAO. Thats a message I would love to send, if she wins. LOL I can't bring myself to type her name, thats how bad my SOUL has been ripped -

Well, it's only going to get worse. CNN is running excerpts from Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Christmas 2007 sermon. That the onslaught began with Billary caught me off guard. I'm thoroughly convinced that none of this is happenstance. Billary are now part of the elite who run this country, and they are willing to tear up the Democratic party for good to continue the imperial rule of the elite, perpetual war and impoverishment of the rest of us and the world. And if I hear one more reporter or pundit wax ashen about 91 percent of Mississippi blacks voting for Senator Obama, I will throw up. They fail to mention all the spilled blood and lynching there. Oh well, let's just hold on for the ride. -

I am a senior white woman, a moderate democrat and an Obama supporter. Up until the weekend of 3/2 I would have reluctantly supported Clinton were she to become the nominee. The 60 Minutes comment followed by the McCain endorsement (all Obama has is a speech in 2002) pushed me over the edge. I was shocked to find out tonight that my brother in California, a lifelong democrat and quite liberal, was pushed over the edge by the Ferraro comments and would now vote for McCain in a Clinton/McCain matchup. I hope and pray we don't have to face that choice. -

I so appreciate this article, and I feel the same way. Obama is the ONLY one who offers any hope of change in this country. I was anti-Hillary in the beginning because I know all about the Clinton machine and cannot stand the corruption in politics and government. There is no way I can ever support her. I am extremely dismayed that the Democratic Party has done nothing to shut down her negative politics. She is going to cost them the election, and what is worse, she is going to cost all of US the chance of having Barack Obama lead our country. I am hurt, saddened, and disgusted!
What can we do about it? Is the Democratic Party as corrupt as the Clinton's? I'm beginning to think so. If you have a productive plan of action that I can partake in, please contact me: jeannebeans@gmail.com

It amazed me that more Afirican-American are not up in arms. Look at the Mayor Of Philly --we all know what his support is all about. We have been walking on eggshells throughout this campaign just waiting for the racial tensions to manifest itself...
It is quite apparent that many anglo Americans , when they coin Obama as the candidate wilth all of the African American support overlook the fact that many homes were split before Bill's fairytale comment in South Carolina-- and still are split. Not all of us are supporting Obama. We are not monolithic in our thinking. But I am stunned that the stragglers of my shared ancestry of pain and pride are still slithering through camp Clinton post Ferraro and Hillary's latest smear tactics. And to think a sister, Maggie, sits at the table plotting out these racist deeds with the Clintons. Uncle Toms and Tomasina are a part of the American fabric. -

So if we can beleive Obama then why not Clinton? -

I agree with you Mr. Bobo. In my view, the Democratic Party never thought that Senator Obama would give Senator Clinton a run for her money. It is clear that the Clinton camp is in panic mode. This just goes to show you that when a white politician is in a tough battle with a black politician they will not hesitate to use race to appeal to the ignorance of certain voters. If the Democratic Party hands the nomination to Clinton, then count me out! -

I am certainly glad to see a public intellectual (or anyone of color, for that matter) not only acknowledge the pattern of destructive, divisive tactics Sen. Clinton has used for political gain, but rebuke them as well. Moreover, it isn???t that she relentlessly engages in the execution of such smutty politics that's disturbing. The real tragedy is that here in America, in 2009, in the ???land of the free???, it still works. -

I certainly plan to. I am most offended by the suggestion that the country would be better served with Mr. Obama as vice-president. Their thinly-veiled attempt to placate the undecided masses. Those voters who, while struggling with both their own prejudice and their denial of it, would choose the black candidate handily if he were in his place...2nd place. They will throw him a bone and "let" him be vice-president and be satisfied that they had stripped themselves of the tarnish of bias that is so innate that in this day in age it shames and confuses even them. The Clinton's know that. And so after being an avid Clinton supporter throughout those 8 tumultuous years almost a generation ago, I will with deep regret resign myself to vote for a republican. If only to send the message that their race-baiting has lost both my respect and my vote. Well said Dr. Bobo.

I agree whole-heartedly with this article. Im a 25 year old black male, and I have always looked up to Bill Clinton, ever since he appeared on Arsenio Hall with when I was ten. I have helped setup voter registration drives for the Democratic Party. I have defended Hillary and Bill since I was 18, but after seeing these tactics embraced by the Clinton camp, I have to say that I am disgusted. Hillary Clinton has lost my support in the general election if she gets there. They are just pathetic. So yes, this Black Democrat has abandoned Clinton. Is Ralph Nader still running? -

I agree that no self respecting African American or American should sit down and support Hillary Clinton while the Clinton camp use other people to tarnish Senator Obama. This is sad that the Clinton camp is allowing for stuff like this to go on. -

I totally agree with you on this one. The blatant disrespect shown by The Clintons has not only tarnished Hillary's standing within our community, but Bill's as well. The Clintons ended up duds. I guess it took Obama to bring out the real sentiments of a political tandem who has taken the black communities love for granted. The Clintons have already lost some of their magic in my view, forever. I suspect many African-Americans feel the same way. What Bill built up, has been torn down. -

It's as if someone called me a n****r (several times), and then asked me to vote for them. And then said, if I don't vote for them, their opponent will make me a slave.
If the "shoulder pad feminists" as Maureen Dowd calls them refuse to vote for Obama, and continue to use fear and race baiting to steer poor whites to Clinton, perhaps they should be reminded the Democratic Party in a national election must have upward of 85 percent of the Afro-American vote to win.
Any white flight by poor whites and older feminists in this national election will be offset by both the record numbers of black voters, and all the new young voters that Obama has brought into the process.
I, for one would rather have a more ethical Republican, knowing what to expect from him, than be used by a sleazy Democrat, who will likely throw me under the bus once she wins. -

I agree with you Mr. Bobo. What I see unfolding as the democratic primary moves along is very troubling. In my veiw, Senator Clinton is in panic mode. I believe the party did not envision Senator Obama giving her a run for her money. When in trouble appeal to the racial ignorance of the people. Let's face it, the party wanted Clinton from the get-go. She's nothing more than status quo! Do not be fooled. I'm with you, if they steal this from Obama, I'm not voting for Clinton and I'm leaving the party.

There is nothing new to the racist political strategies being used by the Clintons against Obama; Bill Clintonl used race-baiting successfully to get to the white house. Many black intellectuals, journalists and politicians turned a blind eye to Bill Clinton's racially charged campaign at the time (some were invited to the white house for dinner!). The question now is why did it take so long for the black elite to finally admit to the Clintons viciousness and irresponsibility in their quest for political power?
