You should have thought of these before you left the Russians to Yeltsin, who did more or less with catastrophic results. But you didn't complain back then. Why? Was it because Yeltsin was batter than Putin, or just because the only concern of yours is the rise of Russian power?
Putin's choices might have negative long-term effects, but you deserve all of Russias' hostility. Don't fool yourselves that a drunk Yeltsin-like fella shall return to power to Russia ever again. You shall have to be honest about your own treatment of Russia and apologize for your mistakes during the Yeltsin era, if you want the Russians to start trusting your opinion at all. If you don't, just cease commenting on Putin, because your opposition to his regime only strenghthens his icon at the eyes of the average Russian, and that is bad both for you and Russia.
