This won't happen for one simple reason: the baseball player's agreement. Specifically, it states that a player's salary cannot decrease more than 20% from the previous year. Because of that, Bonds would have to make at least 12 million. No way Pittsburgh would be willing to spend that much on a single player.

THIS ARTICLE IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT FOR THE PAST SIX MONTHS. I OFTEN WONDERED WHAT AN IRONIC WAY FOR BARRY TO POSSIBLY END HIS CAREER IN THE CITY THAT HE ALIENATED AFTER LEAVING VIA FREE AGENCY. MR. BONDS COULD PROBABLY SHOW HE ACTUALLY WAS A NICE GUY IN A WAY BY RETURNING TO PLAY. ALAS, WHILE I AM WRITING THIS, THE NEWS ON T.V. TALKS ABOUT UNSEALING HIS TESTIMONY TO THE PUBLIC. THIS IS WHY I HOPE HE RETIRES AND TAKES THE FULL PUNISHMENT HE DESERVES FOR ALL THE THINGS HE BROUGHT ON HIMSELF. GOOD RIDDANCE!

one small problem. Pittsburgh is not and has never been Bonds' home. They barely liked him when he was there and HATED him once he left.

Coming back will not make it all better.

Are you kidding? Pittsburgh expects at least SOME degree of humility or at least niceness in it's athletes. That's why guys like Lemieux, Bettis, and a number of hard-working down-to-earth Steelers are our heroes. Prima donnas, especially those who underachieved in NCLS many times and have still never won a World Series, need not apply.

Martin...you are a moron. Bonds should be banished forever. It does not matter how good he ever was because he is a miserable, arrogant cheater! Get a life Martin. Can't you find a good person to cheer for?

I'd love to see it. It'd also be fun to see kayakers in the river beyond right field, patiently waiting for a Barry blast.

I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and remember Barry Bonds only because he befriended my younger brother, Dax, when he was in high school. Barry played basketball with Dax and his friends, invited them for cookouts, and often dropped him off at our house after hanging out on the weekends. We even have pictures of Barry in our family photo album. I don't live in Pittsburgh anymore and can't speak for anyone else, but I would love to see Barry Bonds return to the Pirates. We've always loved and supported him without judgment.
