California police have arrested a man for reportedly dousing a woman with gasoline and lighting her on fire during a domestic dispute on Christmas day in Pomona in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reports.
Clarence Dear, 51, was arrested on Sunday on a bus in Atladena following a tip. He is currently being held on $1 million bail.
According to authorities, Dear and Dawn Hensley, 41, were believed to be arguing on Friday afternoon when he chased her from their home, doused her with gasoline and then set her on fire, possibly using a lit cigarette.
Hensley ran and collapsed on the street, in flames. Neighbors tried to help the woman but she died at the hospital, the AP notes.
