Virginia to Execute First Woman Since 1912
The U.S. Supreme Court has turned down Teresa Lewis' request for a stay of execution. Lewis, 41, is set to die by lethal injection Thursday at 9 p.m. in the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt for the 2002 murder-for-hire slayings of her husband and stepson. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has refused to intervene in the case and has said he will not reconsider his decision. Lewis will be the first woman executed in Virginia since 1912 and the first woman executed in the United States since 2005. This is a first women can do without.
