Trend Alert? African Men Tattooing Lips Pink
Well, this is new. Batta Box TV has released a video interview with a Nigerian man who administers tattoos that color his male customers' lips a bright, bubble-gum pink (as he puts it, "cleaning up the lips"). The cost? About the equivalent of 35 to 40 U.S. dollars. And apparently there's demand for the service. "We get more than 10 customers in a day," he says, tattoo gun in hand.
Is this body alteration any weirder than the lip and butt injections we see here in the U.S., and the widespread skin bleaching that supports a worldwide industry? Probably not. But is it painful-looking and fascinating enough to make us stop, look and question what we find attractive, and why? Definitely.
Any bets on whether the "trend" (we're still not really sure if it quite reaches that level) could catch on in the U.S.?
