Friday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m. EDT: Zimmerman's mom says media are responsible for bad impression of my son: On Tuesday's Piers Morgan Tonight, in an interview conducted in dim lighting so as not to reveal her identity, George Zimmerman's mother said that she was speaking out for the first time because "death threats made it very dangerous for us to come out and defend our son," the Lawyer Herald reports. She also blamed the media for a negative public impression of Zimmerman, saying, "They had portrayed him in a bad -- bad picture. But there is justice in America, and I believe in justice."

Thursday, Oct. 11, 3:13 p.m. EDT: Zimmerman's brother goes on Twitter tirade: Orlando, Fla., civil rights lawyer Natalie Jackson -- one of a group of attorneys who publicly pressured police and prosecutors to charge George Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin's death -- recently suggested that the Zimmerman family was using the media for fundraising. The Chicago Tribune reports that that prompted a Twitter tirade by Zimmerman's brother, Robert, who wrote to Jackson, "My Life's work = you WILL be held accountable for your words/actions. You A'INT seen NOTHIN' yet ... I will see U disbarred."

Wednesday, Oct. 10, 11:13 a.m. EDT: Trayvon's school records: irrelevant to case? "Trayvon’s school records are irrelevant. What might be gleaned from Trayvon’s Facebook and Twitter accounts is irrelevant. As we all know, the photos that filled the Web in the weeks after his killing that purported to show a thug-loving Trayvon turned out to be fakes," the Washington Post's Jonathan Capehart writes in response to news of discovery requests by Zimmerman's defense team. Equally irrelevant, he argues, is the allegation made by "Witness 9" that Zimmerman sexually molested her over the span of 10 years. 

Tuesday, Oct. 9, 12:16 a.m. EDT: Attorney: Zimmerman is in a "virtual prison": In a press conference yesterday, during which Zimmerman defense attorney Mark O'Mara explained that he'd requested records from Trayvon's middle and high school tenure, as well as his Twitter and Facebook accounts, he also said that Zimmerman is in a "virtual prison" and can't even walk the streets, Global Grind reports.

Monday, Oct. 8, 11:49 a.m. EDT: Zimmerman attorneys want Trayvon's online and cellphone info: Lawyers for George Zimmerman, who's charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin, have filed a motion to obtain all posts made on any Twitter and Facebook accounts held by Trayvon, WESH reports. According to the motion, the teen's online social interaction "is discoverable as it is reasonably calculated to lead to relevant admissible evidence."
